Though that is an excellent reason, it isn't the case here. The avatars aren't the worst part. Its the 14 year old - type sigs that get old (see above, for example).

I don't want to offend you, but it's not a big deal. There are a few posters whose avatars I am just sick of seeing, but I go on. You have to look past the photos. It's what's in the post that counts.

edit: That said, maybe you should try PM Hicks or able about this.

I agree about it not being that big of a deal, which is why I assume there must be some reason to eliminate them.

We could get rid of em if we wanted too.
Doesn't make a diffrence to me ..won't be like it's the first messageboard I goto that doesn't allow them and I was speaking from a user being able to choose standpoint .

Well, I'm one of the few people on this board who is on dial-up. I rarely have a problem with avatars and signatures. The only time my load time hits a snag is when someone uses a looping .gif or something or links to a huge image (like a 1024x768 desktop) and lets the board resize it. That really pisses me off. Otherwise, I have no complaints with load times. Now, aesthetically, some signatures and avatars can be obtuse, but I deal with it. By the way, just because an image is large, doesn't mean it has to have a huge file size. Some people just don't know how or are unable to shrink the file size.
Take me out to the black, tell 'em I ain't coming back. Burn the land and boil the sea, you can't take the sky from me.

I wondered about that...Is there a way to make the .gifs "smaller"?

I use Adobe Photoshop to save images at a slightly lower quality. That usually does it for me.

Just use the "tools" option on your browser and turn images off when viewing this site if they are bothering you.

As of 1 minute ago (yay me! ), you can now turn off avatars and signatures (with the option of not seeing them completely, or just not seeing the pictures) by accessing your profile. Enjoy.

Word. There's no reason for any picture in a thread to be more than 72 DPI.
Welcome to Pacers Digest! New around here? Here are three tips for making the forum a great place to talk about Pacers basketball.

    • Log in. Even if you want to read instead of post, it's helpful because it lets you:
    • Change your signature options. You can hide all signatures by choosing "Settings" (top right) then "General Settings" (middle left) and unchecking the box "Show Signatures" (in the "Thread Display Options" area).
    • Create an ignore list. I know it may seem unneighborly. But you're here to talk about the Pacers, not argue with someone who's just looking for an argument. Most of the regular users on here make use (at least occasionally) of the "Ignore" feature. Just go to "Settings" -> "Edit Ignore List" and add the names.

    Enjoy your time at PD!
