    Default Question

I don't have time to do the research myself but somebody else might want to...

What kind of guards could we get for a package of SJax and Foster?
Why do the things that we treasure most, slip away in time
Till to the music we grow deaf, to God's beauty blind
Why do the things that connect us slowly pull us apart?
Till we fall away in our own darkness, a stranger to our own hearts
And life itself, rushing over me
Life itself, the wind in black elms,
Life itself in your heart and in your eyes, I can't make it without you

    Stephen Jackson
    6-8 SG 16.4 ppg, 3.9 rpg, 2.8 apg in 35.9 minutes
    Jeff Foster
    6-11 C 5.9 ppg, 9.1 rpg, 0.8 apg in 25.1 minutes
    John Edwards
    7-0 C 1.8 ppg, 1.2 rpg, 0.1 apg in 7.4 minutes

    6-11 PF 9.0 ppg, 7.3 rpg, 1.2 apg in 31.8 minutes
    Ben Gordon
    6-3 SG 16.9 ppg, 2.7 rpg, 3.0 apg in 31.1 minutes

Analysis: We get rid of SJax, in return we pick up similar production (albeit losing considerable height, while gaining considerable speed). I hate seeing Foster go, but under this trade we'll pick up similar production at the back up PF/C spots. Edwards is to make it work, and add another big behind Wallace.

    Damon Stoudamire
    5-10 PG 11.7 ppg, 3.5 rpg, 4.7 apg in 31.9 minutes

Analysis: OK, so this is a trade with Memphis not involving either Mike Miller or Stromile Swift. Swift just came back to the team, don't see them moving him now. Miller, well we don't have the goods to get it done...Memphis should be able to do better.

We get rid of BOTH SJax AND Tins, again we have to sadly part ways with Foster. It's the last year of the awful Eddie Jones contract, he could be the outside specialist we're looking for. Damon Stoudamire, another similarly productive PG, problem here is that we pick up a contract with a couple years left and he's not getting any younger. Upside, he's an open court PG that could fit well into the new system.

    Raef LaFrentz
    6-11 C from Kansas
    7.8 ppg, 5.0 rpg, 1.4 apg in 24.7 minutes

Analysis: Basically this trade SUCKS, it doesn't involve SJax or bring in a PG....but RealGM says it works. Thought I'd pass it along anyways. The only upside I see, we fill both the outside specialist AND big man needs in one crappy fullswoop. hahaha

Analysis: Again, not a great trade. Make believe stuff, BUT we get rid of BOTH SJax AND Tins! Say goodbye to Foster. We pick up the disruptive Darius Miles who can run in the open court...and LaFrentz.

Analysis: Looking at Milwaukee's payroll you start to get the feeling that this team LOVES bad contracts, SO...with this in mind we send Tins' bad contract plus SJax and Foster to Milwaukee for their backcourt. Although completely unrealistic, this is a pretty nice scenario.

two teams that would seem to want Foster and Jackson would be Minnesota and Houston. but who would we want that we could get in return?

maybe we'd be able to work those two into a potential NJ / CHA vince carter deal.

there are a bunch of deals i'd like to make:

    IND & MEM
Indiana receives: Mike Miller, Dahntay Jones, Lawrence Roberts
    Memphis Receives: Jackson, Foster

    or

    IND & PHX
Indiana receives: Raja Bell, Kurt Thomas
    Phoenix Receives: Jackson, Foster

the problem is the other teams have no need to make these deals.

if we traded jax and foster individually, maybe what we could get a better value. maybe a draft pick and one of these players:

    Juan Dixon, Voshon Leonard (Por)
    Damien Wilkens,
    Nick Collison (Sea)
Lawrence Roberts, Hakim Warrick, Dahntay Jones (Mem)
    Hedo Turkoglu (Orl)
    Robert Horry, Brent Barry (San)

part of the problem is we don't know what the team is really going to look like at this point especially at the guard positions.

i would cry for joy if we somehow got this trade to happen because Raja Bell can shoot the three

the problem is the reason that Phoenix would be willing to trade Raja is because they've committed to Barbosa being the starter and since they just signed piatkowski as a backup, wouldn't need that depth at SG when they also have diaw and james jones at SF. the only way is to make it a 3 or 4-way team trade.
