This makes it much easier for me to like the Pistons. Now if they could just get rid of the other Wallace...

Good call. I definitely wouldn't count Joe D. out. Rasheed for Chris Mihm would get the Pistons and Lakers right back to where I like them both
Thinking about Mihm in Ben's place in the starting line-up makes me .

I know Rasheed has a very bad relationship with the Bulls especially Skiles. I wonder what he will do when they play next year...

Bulls aren't done I would bet. I expect them to move Deng or Nocioni for a bigger two.

Ah well. Hope we get something good in a sign-and-trade.

It was fun to have him here. Good luck in Chicago, big guy.

We'll be ok. But we'll need to do something special to become legit title contenders again.
I always thought he was over-rated

We've still got 3 all-stars left on this team. It;s not a horrible starting point.

Think the Pistons will go after Nazr or Mags?

I think they are in store for one more Big Move....they can easily move Chandler + Gordon ( if needed ) to another team as GMs are looking for defensive minded Centers that can rebound/block shots.

From the rumors...it sounds like it could be the Ws...where Troy Murphy is involved....and the Hornets.

This season is the one when the Bulls jump the next level from 1st round Playoff team to 2nd/NBA finals team.

I'm still amazed at how they have reached this point....while the Pacers are standing still...watching all the teams go by.

I like the Bulls, but I hope they can resign their other young players too. In my opinion, I'd definetely rather see Ben with the Bulls than the Pistons, just because I don't like the Pistons.

This is the news I was wanting to hear but I would of preferred it to be with Ben signing out of division at least. The Pistons don't look as solid or prepared without him so they need to do something.

    From realgm wiretap:

    Pistons' Initial Offer Irks Wallace

    3rd July, 2006 - 8:27 am

Detroit News - Ben Wallace isn't happy with the Pistons initial offer, the Detroit News is reporting.

"It was disappointing," he said. "It was not at all what I expected."

The Pistons' initial offer was a four-year deal starting at $11.5 million and would pay him $49.6 million over four years. It would make Wallace the highest-paid player on the team next season, eclipsing Rasheed Wallace's salary by $100,000.

Pistons president Joe Dumars, reached by e-mail, said he didn't want to negotiate through the newspaper and declined comment.

"No, the door's not closed (on the Pistons)," Wallace added. "I know it's a business and they have to run their business."

Wallace met with Chicago Bulls general manager John Paxson and coach Scott Skiles in Detroit on Saturday. He characterized the meeting as "real good" but added that no official offer was extended.

Reports of the Bulls offering a contract starting at $13 million or $14 million were overstated, as were reports of the Bulls offering a five-year deal.

"I ain't looking for more than four years," said Wallace.

Wallace said he expects to hear from several other teams, including Washington, New York and Cleveland, as early as today. Since all three are over the cap, a sign and trade would be necessary if Wallace was to leave Detroit.

I think it's time for the Pistons to rebuild. Trade Sheed and start moving in a new direction. They have an offensive-minded coach and their current team had run its course, and you can't just plug in a Nazr or whatever and expect to be contenders again.

    Detroit...welcome to OUR world.

    You're dreaming.

It would be nice is that was true, but its simply not.

It will be hard to replace Ben, very hard, but not impossible.

This would have made me estatic 2 years ago. I could care less now. It's not as if the Pacers are anywhere close to the Pistons league.

I would maybe be somewhat happy if he was going west. He's going to be playing right next door to us.

It'll be really, really, really hard to replace him. Without any one of their great starting 5, Detroit just isn't special anymore. I don't see how they fix that, really.

Not special, but still within range of being very good, assuming we can pick up the pieces in free agency.

You won't be title contenders with that. If that's okay with you, then have a ball.

I dunno, considering how much Ben struggled, you could replace him statistically with Nazr Mohammed. The bigger intangible is the fear of driving the lane associated with the Larry Brown Pistons teams that just won't be there anymore.

If we sell off all our players, we won't be contenders either.

Better to be very good than average or terrible, and be 1 piece away from a title, rather than 3-4 pieces away.

Yes, which isn't bad at all. It's just that Billups/Hamilton/Prince/Wallace/Wallace was dominant team whenever they played to their fullest. I don't think they can get back to that.

If Detriot doesn't make any moves they are not contenders. I guess we will see how much of an impact Ben truly makes.
"They could turn out to be only innocent mathematicians, I suppose," muttered Woevre's section officer, de Decker.

"'Only.'" Woevre was amused. "Someday you'll explain to me how that's possible. Seeing that, on the face of it, all mathematics leads, doesn't it, sooner or later, to some kind of human suffering."

And expecting us NOT to make any moves is silly. Joe DUmars has been slapped in the face, and you don't think he'll respond?

I think you should keep Rip, Chauncey, and Tayshaun and build around them, not completely clean house. But Sheed's time in Detroit should be done, and you have a lot of old vets on the bench.

Those of you who think Detroit will be significantly hurt by this are dreaming. They're gonna get a decent center, which is all Ben was this past year.

Chicago's looking damn good now. Is that Tyson-PJ rumor still making the rounds?

If we can move sheed for a nice building block up front, then that's different.

But to have a firesale would be utterly ridiculous.
