Thread: Move up to get Bird's guy

Default Move up to get Bird's guy

Someone posted this on the RealGM board and I kinda liked it.

IND trades Johnson, Jackson, Croshere, 17
NO trades PJ Brown, Desmond Mason, 12

We get a legit starting C, plus a good slasher in Mase, and Bird's player should almost definitely be there at 12. If the next season is awful and this team doesn't work out, Brown and Mason's contracts are up. Trade Jermaine's and we are suddenly in rebuilding mode with a good amount of money and a young core of pick #12, Granger, Harrison and whoever.

Tinsley (hopefully traded for someone else)/Sarunas/?
    Mason/Jones?/Granger
    Peja/Granger/Mason
    O'Neal/Granger/Foster
    Brown/Foster/Harrison

Plus our 2 draft picks somewhere in there. NO picks up a solid backup to CP3, a SG that Byron Scott wanted when Indy got him and may still want, and a vet PF who can shoot, plus the 17th. Not sure if they'd do it, but I think it's pretty fair.

Thumbs up Re: Move up to get Bird's guy

The NO fans on RealGM prefer Pollard over AJ. Even better for us. Pollard/Cro/Jack/17 for Brown/Mase/12

    AJ/Tins/Saras
    Mase/Jones?/Granger
    Peja/Granger/Mase
    JO/Granger/Foster
    Brown/Foster/Harrison
    + 2 picks.

    Pollard is a free agent.

S&T. It's not like he's going to be commanding a lot of money, so he may make more through a S&T. But, yah if he didn't want to go to NO, obviously he wouldn't have to. Just an idea.

Take out PJ and throw in that Paul kid and it's a deal.

Seriously though, we should be getting JR Smith if we deal with them. We are giving up too much.

    How about this, it works:

Brown, Mason, Smith, #12, #15 to Indiana
Croshere, Tinsley, Foster, #17 to Nawlins (MAYBE through in the 2nd rounder)

Or we can throw in Carlisle and they can throw in Byron?

I'd like to get rid of Tins, but they already have a backup PG in Speedy. That's why they didn't think AJ needed to be in the deal. Pollard/Jack/Cro to me is giving up less than Cro/Tins/Foster. We give up 2 starters in the 2nd deal. Also, I want to trade Jack more than Tins.

Can't agree with that. Jamaal wants out of Indy, me thinks. I pray we find a way to make it happen and move on at point guard.

Cro + Jackson + either Pollard or AJ is too much?

oooohh yeah... I'd trade Carlisle, the #17, and anything else they want except JO for Byron.
Why do the things that we treasure most, slip away in time
Till to the music we grow deaf, to God's beauty blind
Why do the things that connect us slowly pull us apart?
Till we fall away in our own darkness, a stranger to our own hearts
And life itself, rushing over me
Life itself, the wind in black elms,
Life itself in your heart and in your eyes, I can't make it without you
