Thread: Top 6 rap albums of all time

I have a pretty eclectic taste in music, and I do like rap, but I am not a hardcore fan. I tend to like where rap/rock have merged together, in bands like Linkin Park for example.

Most of the stuff that I do like and/or respect is well represented here, and most of it is old school. I like Public Enemy, NWA, and Snoop for example, but I also own most of Eminem's stuff.

I don't feel qualified to give a list of the best 6 of all time (Chris Rock put together a list for Rolling Stone recently by the way), but I do see a couple of old school groups missing. Run DMC and the Beastie Boys at the very least have been pioneers. If I had to pick one album from each it would be Rasing Hell and Paul's Boutique respectively.
When you're playing against a stacked deck, compete even harder. Show the world how much you'll fight for the winners circle. If you do, someday the cellophane will crackle off a fresh pack, one that belongs to you, and the cards will be stacked in your favor.

I can't do a top six list but I do enjoy some rap. It's definitely music. But i don't like most "party" rap. Or most of it that has to do with hoes/*****es and how much money you make. I do like Kanye West, Mos Def, unfunny Eminem, Beastie Boys, and Jay Z to name a few.

Yeah, but it doesn't warrant you going overboard and doing the same thing. Just stay calm and say something like "If you don't like this music, then don't post here."

Sorry if I'm sounding like a parent or something, just trying to help.

Back to the thread, I'd say Marshall Mathers LP would be Top 10-15. I liked it. I really liked Em's old stuff, his first two CD's. I like them all, but those are the best IMO.

I am also starting to really like Jay-Z. I loved the Black Album. I loved the music and the raps. Loved that CD. I need to get The Blueprint and Reasonable Doubt.

I also agree with RickDerris, I don't like too much mainstream rap. I like stuff that has good lyrics and means something. Jay-Z, Tupac, B.I.G, Em, all do, IMO.
It's cool, I pretty much deserved a flame back.

But in all honesty I just wrote it for giggles.

I pretty much thought you wrote it as a joke, and then the other dude came in and co-signed what you said, I didnt think that was needed.
