    Default They're still learning....

Once again an example of what many on PD have been harping about. Do the Pacer's have anyone working toward Hulk's improvement other than JO?

    See www.benmaller.com as the link.

On practice days, Lakers center Andrew Bynum arrives an hour early to work with Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. Make no mistake that they are still developing the sky hook that Bynum vowed to bring back on draft night last June. His version will be more of a jump hook but (he hopes) will prove just as unstoppable. "I was really lucky that I have been a parent and understand what's happening with people his age," Abdul-Jabbar said. "It enabled me to be patient when I needed to be and understand his mind-set."

We should bring Rik back to help him out. Maybe Rik still has some Shaq stopping moves.

I'm almost at the point that even Rik would help. Well I actually don't believe that, but Hulk needs some guidance.

What I don't understand is this mentality that once a player makes the NBA he doesn't have to learn anymore. Any other real job you're expecting to learn something everyday. Why would this be any different? We complain that many of these guys lack fundamentals. If that's true, then why do we not have coaches who take the time to teach?

If the players do not take the time then they need to be sent away, but this should only happen if they're not working to get better. Everyone in this organization needs to make that extra effort to be sure things are being done right.

I think Walton would be very helpful for both David and JO.

Russell would be a good choice, too.
Why do the things that we treasure most, slip away in time
Till to the music we grow deaf, to God's beauty blind
Why do the things that connect us slowly pull us apart?
Till we fall away in our own darkness, a stranger to our own hearts
And life itself, rushing over me
Life itself, the wind in black elms,
Life itself in your heart and in your eyes, I can't make it without you

I bet the pervasive Walton hate would quickly dissolve in Pacerland...

And I agree that I think Walton would be helpful.

Nuntius was right. I was wrong. Frank Vogel has retained his job.

This is how any Bill Walton Big Man training session would go:

7am - Gives a good pep speech to Hulk about what it means to be a Good Center....then he would start talking about every other random NBA fact that is wedged in his brain

12pm - Break for lunch and talk about his son, Luke...but would steer the conversation towards his man-love for Kobe.

2pm - He would then go off on how much he loves the Pistons and the Spurs.

5pm - Realizes that its the end of the day and they have yet to step onto the court. Decides to go home and take his nap and start over the next day.

Hulk would learn nothing from Walton other then the fact that he loves to hear his own voice.

I want a big "um, yeah" for this topic. Can't Bird talk to one of his old friends? Doesn't have Celtic connections and stuff? Isn't this why we have Bird? Connections. It certainly isn't for his astute negotiating skills.

Didn't Bill Russel express interest in working with JO in the past but the Celtics nixed it?
