    Default The "Thank You" Thread

With so much negativity being thrown around here sometimes, I thought it'd be good to start a "thank you" thread. Gratitude is good for the psyche.

Thank you to all the wonderful people on PD!

Uh oh, I think I've seen this before...

There is a fifth dimension beyond that which is known to man. It is a dimension as vast as space and as timeless as infinity. It is the middle ground between light and shadow, between science and superstition, and it lies between the pit of man's fears and the summit of his knowledge. This is the dimension of imagination. It is an area which we call the Twilight Zone...

    Yup, I thought so.

    Everyone have a great day!
Take me out to the black, tell 'em I ain't coming back. Burn the land and boil the sea, you can't take the sky from me.

    You didn't thank anybody!

Thank you, makers of NyQuil. I actually had uninterrupted sleep because of you last night!

Are you actually functional today? Whenever I take that to sleep, I'm like a walking zombie for at least the morning portion of the next day.

Oh, and thanks for electric shock therapy, it has given me one or two less personalities.

Well, I've felt pretty negative around here lately, so here's to everyone on PD, thanks for making life more interesting here on that razor's edge between fantasy and reality.

I am afraid, however, that there is balance in the universe as I think I have inherited a couple of those personalities. But I am grateful for that as well. (Me too).
Don't thank me, I'll kill ya.

Thank you Dell for not knowing how to run your customer service and through that service accidentally giving me two free 24 inch monitors

Edit: Oh, and I forgot that I'm thankful efx is so generous with electronic items that he doesn't really need extras of.

Here's the story in short I guess:

In early december I order the dell2405fp 24 inc lcd monitor. I get it in about a week and all is fine. However, Dell has a 21 day return policy that implies that if you are not happy with the slightest thing on it they'll send you a new one, you compare them both at home and then you send one back using the prepaid slip they give you.

So, I call them up and tell them that it has a sligh issue (it didn't really but this was a big investment so I thought I'd get the best for my money) with it.

The CS rep said ok, we'll send you a new one.

Then I realized I had to go to Sweden the next week so I wouldn't be able to pick it up. No biggie, I have my wife sign for it. But when fedex came they wanted my sig instead of hers so they had to take it back to the station.

And when I came back to New York City they had already sent it back to dell.

So I call up dell and explain myself. They didn't seem to understand me totally (proverbial language barrier) but they finally said "Ok, if you didn't get your monitor we'll send you a new one".

Great I think. And in about a week I get it. With no return slip. At this stage I had gone through about 8 customer service people to get to the one that actually understood english (most of them were really nice but it's hard sometimes) and about 3 different reference #'s.

I look at the reference #'s online and they all said: "Case Closed".

Essentially they thought that I didn't get my original monitor so they sent me a new one.

So I paid for 1 and got 2 and now they are running in glorious dual-monitor setup with a rez of 3840*1200

    I <3 Dell

Hey, if they want it back I'll gladly send it to them. But I'm not going to go through the hell that is their CS just to tell them how to do what is not a very hard job to do.

Striking back at the ignore list people:

I would like to thank the existence of a buddy list. I've decided to give it a try.

I don't exactly know what it does, so we'll see how it pans out.

The buddy list is rumored to make people who normally don't like you, like you. Awesome. If it did, I'd totally thank it.
