The NFL announced today the Colts open the preseason Sunday, Aug. 10 at St. Louis. The 8 p.m. game will be telecast nationally by FOX.
The Colts then entertain reigning NFC champion Seattle Sunday, Aug. 20 on NBC at 8 p.m. The match-up pits the teams with the best regular-season records in '05 -- the 14-2 Colts and 13-3 Seahawks, who were beaten by Pittsburgh in Super Bowl XL.
The Colts' two national games are part of the league's 15-game national-TV schedule.
After meeting the New Orleans Saints Saturday, Aug. 26 in Jackson, Miss., the Colts close the preseason at home against Cincinnati. The final preseason weekend is Aug. 31-Sept. 2 and the date of the Colts' wrap-up game has not been released.
The Bengals and Seahawks have been traditional preseason opponents since the Colts' relocation to Indy in 1984.
The Colts and Cincinnati are meeting for a fifth straight time in the preseason and the 15th time since '84. The Colts have not met Seattle in the past two preseasons, which snapped a streak of 14 straight preseason meetings. Overall, the meeting will be the 17th since '84.
The Colts will be meeting St. Louis for the first time in a preseason setting. They've met the Saints eight times previously, the last occurring in 2002.
