    Default Pacers get Ray Allen

Indiana trades Stephen Jackson, Jamaal Tinsley, Austin Croshere, Erazem Lorbek, and an unprotected #1 next year, to Settle for Ray Allen and Danny Fortson.

Settle gets a good shooting guard to replace Allen, they get a power forward to replace Fortson, they get the Point guard they need in Tinsley, they get a prospect in Lorbek, and a #1 pick.

The Pacers would then have two all stars, and two of the best shooters in the NBA, to go along with JO.

    PF JO/Fortson
    SF Peja/Granger
    C Pollard/Harrison/Foster
    SG Allen/Jones

    Successful Scenario
Due to Indiana and Seattle being over the cap, the 25% trade rule is invoked. Indiana and Seattle had to be no more than 125% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

If Tinsley is a bad as some of you say he is (I don't beleive that, but I'm playing along)....

Then, man, I feel bad for Austin Croshere in this trade.
Why do the things that we treasure most, slip away in time
Till to the music we grow deaf, to God's beauty blind
Why do the things that connect us slowly pull us apart?
Till we fall away in our own darkness, a stranger to our own hearts
And life itself, rushing over me
Life itself, the wind in black elms,
Life itself in your heart and in your eyes, I can't make it without you

I definitely like the trade talent wise. But if we intend to re-sign Peja this summer, the Pacers are going to be in salary cap hell for the forseeable future. 2 max contracts (Ray, JO) and a sure-to-be hefty one in Peja.

Other than that, it's a "win now" championship move. Would it get the Pacers a championship? I don't know for sure. It would put the Pacers in the running though.

Ray Allen, bc of his shot, will be good for a long time. I envision his career like Reggie's. Always a threat. Would you want to leave Ray Allen open ever? He could be 50 years old and he still would have a man on him at crunch time.

Great trade for is I think but in the end I don't think the Sonics would do it and I have to agree with aw heck...salary cap hell so it'd prolly be nixed by the Simons.

Beat me too it Will. I was thinking about a similar deal earlier today. There are reports that Allen is on the block. Seattle's coach came out in the media and said that unless a trade is made, they are in rebuilding mode.

I would rather the Sonics keep Fortson and we replace Cro with Pollard. I think Cro is going to be valuable come playoff time.

If we are looking for a "win now" type team, this would be a decent trade. It's going to kill our cap, but we would be a contender for the next 3-4 years, especially if we could somehow get peja resigned.

Ray is only 30-31 and will probably be an all-star talent for at least another 3 years.

    Career stats FG% 45 3FG% 40 FT% 89 AST 4 RB 4.5 Shots/game 16 PTS > 20 for 9 years running.

    Salary: 13.2 this years + 14.6, 16.0, 17.4, 18.8 for next 4 years.

I like the deal; I'd even throw in another unprotected 1st round pick two years down the road.

Do it. That would give us 3 legit all-stars in the starting lineup, with decent role players at PG and C. If we were to do a trade like this one though, it would be a killer if we couldn't re-sign Peja this summer, and possibly Freddy as well. With Pollard looking healthier than ever, I'd even re-sign Pollard, if he'd go for about $4M per year for 2 years.

With continued improvement of Harrison and Granger, that would give us a decent shot to get through Detroit and on to the Finals and the title for at least the next couple of years.

Stop talking crap about Ray Allen or whoever. JRich is the man.

Seriously, till now I have only seen him in NBA Action and NBA Box Scores. And he was in my favorite starting 5. Last night I saw him playing for the first time and I am still shocked. This guy is a masterpiece. He clearly tops my picks from now on.

The speaker said his sallary would be 8,888,888 $. I presume this shows GS have absolutely no intention in parting ways with him, and neither does he. Cause else, if I were Walsh or Bird, I would throw Jackson, Tinsley and whoever just to get his guy.
