The second half of this season of the walking dead has been so so for the most part, but this last episode is one of the reasons why I love this series all together. But I just get the feeling that this series is gonna end kind of like breaking bad, only alot more dead characters.

I think the problem with TWD is they introduced way too many characters, way too fast, with no idea what they wanted to do with any of them, and not enough time to spend making you care about most of them. And then, even worse, they separated them. So now they're thinning the herds and trying to get them back into one group -- survival of the fittest for most interesting characters, if you will.

I'm great with names in The Wire, Game of Thrones, etc. which can be daunting. But with TWD...I'll say "that guy who _____" or "_____'s kid/friend/boo" because I genuinely just don't care about most of the characters, and the writers don't want me to care about most of the characters.

The series is at its best when a core group of characters we know are on the move, navigating post-apocalyptic America, and working together through the ups & the downs of survival.

I'm still enthralled by this season of Shameless. Some storylines I'm not particularly fond of, as always with this show, but overall it's just a really enjoyable show to watch. Very strong character focus, which I always enjoy.

Thankfully there is just one more week left until How I Met Your Mother puts us all out of our misery. God this season has been absolutely awful. It's as if the writers just decided to be giant douches and give the finger to the show's fans this season. I've never seen so much wasted potential in a show's final season. This was the ultimate mailing in. The show has taken its name way too literally, and it looks like the very last scene of the show will be Ted meeting the mother. They should have gotten this damn wedding out of the way at the beginning of the season and developed the mother for the rest of the year. Such a waste. A few of the recent episodes have been better, but this season gets a giant F overall. I'll remember this show for the hilarious show that it used to be, not for the train wreck of a final season that it put us through.

Friends used to be a hilarious show back in the day. Some of the old reruns are still hilarious. It got goofy in its final season or two like most shows do, but it was great back in the day.

My thoughts on The Walking Dead is that the writers and showrunners are essentially drunk at the wheel and haven't had direction since the fairly incredible first season. That damn farm started the downward spiral. Every now and then the show will have some good moments, but it has pretty much lost me by now. Sunday nights I'll stick to FOX with Bob's Burgers and Cosmos.

Rick and Morty is the funniest animated show since the early seasons of Archer and the early 2000s Futurama and South Park episodes. I forgot how much I enjoy Adult Swim until I have an excuse to watch it.

I fear the decision to "save" Frank is a bit deus ex machina (I mean...really? at that point), but I'm willing to see how it plays out. If it spins the character in a new, interesting direction, i.e. he's somewhat damaged from it, or really does have to go stone cold sober (and really tries to do it, versus the one-episode kind of stuff), then it becomes a compelling move to me. If he just goes back to being Drunk Frank, then I think this season will feel a bit pointless in retrospect.

I do like the direction they're taking Bonnie's character. That had the potential to be a complete "jump the shark" thing, and I would have said that a few weeks ago. But I like what they revealed with the van and her family. It kind of sets her up as a Bizarro Fiona. It was the first thing to intrigue me about her character, and Carl's relationship with her. That has some potential, finally.

Not a huge fan of the Kev/V storyline this season. Seems pretty silly and predictable. And Kev sticking up Mickey wasn't really wholly believable, seemed to just be unnecessary drama/conflict.

Interested to see where they take the last two episodes. Glad they're not going to dwell on Fiona at rock bottom, apparently. She's bottomed out and they gave the perfect amount of time to that downward spiral. Now comes repentance.

I tried this one, just couldn't do it. Felt too uncomfortable with the constant barrage of incestual tension. I mean, I get that you should be prepared for that already if you know anything about Psycho, but still, it just kind of made my skin crawl when I watched.

It really kind of is. I listened to a podcast that had Emmy Rossum on it and the intention was originally for Frank to die. Then they got renewed for another season and, well...deus ex machina!

Agree completely with the Bonnie character.

Another thing I learned from that podcast was the whole Kev and V having babies thing was because the actress who played V was pregnant in real life, so they wrote that into the storyline. Still, it's gotten out of hand.

I dunno... I've enjoyed this season for the most part. I think its a pretty great show. I'm definitely sad to see it go. I think people give the show an unfair criticism based on the fact that there has always been this singular point to the show from the beginning. "Meet the MOTHER Already!" People were clamoring for him to meet the mother back in season 2 for pete sake. For that alone it seems like folks are just unwilling to let it be a sitcom. Like there always has to be progress.

I think you are right that it might end with a "Haaaave You Met Ted?" Moment. Which will be very abrupt, but it would be neat to have it go full circle like that back to the first episode.

I agree with you some that the Wedding has taken up too much space. I don't mind the season over a weekend idea. But it seemed like every other episode Robin was having a nervous break down about getting married, or a break down about what kind of person Barney is. So yea more time could have been spend up to this point fleshing the Mother out a bit more. But they are leaving her character just outside of arms reach for a reason. They are giving you clues all throughout the season about her personality and how it matches up with Ted. The audience gets to see how perfect she is for Ted before he gets to. Its also pretty neat that she has had profound effect on every character's story ark before Ted even see's her. If they spent the whole season developing her and Ted's relationship, then you the audience would have the opportunity to judge her.

I think one area they have really messed up on is that they have already showed their 1st date, the proposal on the light house, along with some sort of anniversary dinner in the future. Those flash forwards are forcing a chemistry or connection before the audience has even had the chance to see it happen. As a fan of the show I definitely wanted to see the 2 characters lock eyes for the first time and have a real connection before seeing those kinds of scenes. I'm not even sure I needed to see the proposal at all.

    Still love the show though.

    A few recent thoughts...

    1. Walking Dead finale ... I liked it, but I didn't realize it was the finale until after. The whole Claimers vs Rick scene was one of the darkest I've seen on non-premium cable for quite some time. When that one claimer was about to rape Carl, I just looked over at my friend with a WTF expression on my face. Didn't think that series would go there. But I liked the compare/contrast effort with survivalism and zombies, essentially. You do what you have to in order to survive and protect those you love, no matter how barbaric. And I liked the gang finally getting back together at Terminus, no matter how clumsy its execution may have been. Series operates better when everyone is in one place. My only criticism was the final line. I get that they can't drop the f-bomb on AMC, but "screwed with the wrong people" just sounded cheesy.

    2. Shameless continues to surprise and amaze me. More top 5 episodes this season than any other season. This last episode was no exception. It's probably a bit deus ex machina that writers allowed Frank to survive, but it made for an interesting and touching episode in his post-op delusion, apologizing to a "young Fiona" as the adult Fiona had totally lost her innocence. I also like that Mickey & Ian aren't the stereotypical gay couple you see in every other TV series. They've done a nice job of adding depth and character to those two. I still think that ends in tragedy sooner rather than later, but to a larger point, I just like that Shameless writers take risks, and in the process, have shown they can flesh out relatable, entirely human characters. Some of their decisions are a bit hit-or-miss, but in general, I find the series depicts more honest, realistic relationships than any other series on TV. I'm really starting to like the Carl-Bonnie dynamic, too, after I thought they'd jumped the shark with the armed robbery a few weeks ago. As I said before, she's basically bizarro Fiona, and I get the sense she is a victim of sexual abuse as well (got the same sense from Frank this week). It's a dynamic that really humanizes Carl's character, which was a character in need of humanization.

I agreed with everything you said, but especially this. Hoping she gets looped into SHIELD now that they finally put a bullet to this once great show.

The funniest thing about Shameless is that it got moved to the comedy category for the Emmy's when it's anything but these days. Some dark humor, sure, I guess, but that's not Emmy comedy. Frank needs to go though. He's great, but Will Macy's not the reason anyone's watching anymore and I doubt they're about to pick up new viewers. I...enjoyed, for lack of a better word, the quick bit of background when Frank was delirious post-surgery that explained quite a bit, but it doesn't make up for the pretzel they twisted to keep him around.

I maybe in the minority, but I really enjoyed the entire season and the final of The Walking Dead. Love the TV Show, the Comics and the TellTale games.

How I Met Your Mother series final was a disappointing cluster ****.

I just finished re-watching the 1st season of Veronica Mars. Great TV Show. I'm going to re-watch season 2 and 3 before I see the new Movie.
If you haven't seen it, it's a really good series. Season 1 and 2 were awesome, season 3 was good. A series well worth watching.

As a fan of How I Meet Your Mother since the first episode I still do not know how I feel about the series finale. There were parts that I really liked and then other parts that I did not like at all.

Now the season finale of The Walking Dead I loved! I love this entire season and finally glad we got some direction for the series. So glad to have rid ourselves of Farmer Rick and got leader Rick back. The only thing I disliked about this season was that they turned Glenn into a bumbling idiot.

The Veronica Mars movie is pretty good. If you liked the series, no doubt you'll like the movie. It was basically a 90-minute fan service project funded by fans. I can't imagine it would be half as fun/funny if you hadn't ever seen the series.

Looks like I'm in the minority again, but I loved HIMYM finale. It all makes perfect sense, why Ted started his story with him meeting Robin. All of it. Last night I kept wondering if this was the plan all along, and then reading an article today it hit me how dumb that question was......Ted's kids never got older. Come to find out, they shot the last scene with an older Ted and the kids 8 years ago. The writers knew this ending when they did the pilot and shot that scene just so the actors playing the kids wouldn't age. I never thought about it until it was staring me in the face.

I really didn't have too much of a problem with the finale. It entertained me, which is more than I can say about the majority of this season's crappy filler episodes. I do think that ending up with Robin was a bit....forced...but I was glad that Robin and Barney broke up. I thought they were awful together. My main problem with Robin and Ted is that Robin never really seemed to love Ted. He tried about a billion different times to get her, but she didn't take any of the opportunities. Yet as a lonely 50 year old, she finally realizes that she loves him? And why didn't she meet any new friends/lovers in the 13 or so years after divorcing Barney? She traveled the world as a famous reporter, yet it seems as though she didn't meet a single new person. She was like that woman in Home Alone.

Of course, I could live with all of that if the mother wasn't so tragically unused this season. After hyping up this mother for 9 years, they owed it to their fans to have FAR MORE scenes of her interacting with Ted, either in the present or the future. It's a shame because her and Ted had great chemistry on camera. Also, there were barely any scenes of her with the rest of the gang. It's just all a shame. The show was named for her, but she just seemed like a bunch of underused filler this season.

And just because they shot those scenes with the kids doesn't mean that they had to use them. I absolutely loved this show, but I feel that this was about the worst final season I've ever seen from a quality TV show. The finale was entertaining, but it was just the final nail in the coffin of severely ignoring golden opportunities to do a bit more with the mother. I mean the mother was served up to them on a silver platter this season and gave them an opportunity to reignite some spark into the show, but instead they gave us lame filler slap episodes while Marshall was driving with that annoying woman for like half of the season.

The way the show ended made Ted seem really douchey. I think he took so long to get married because he thought it might end sooner. Got a lucky break with the death. Why no funeral scene?
