Just started watching another Sorkin show... Sports Night.

Liking it a lot so far. I feel like they throw a laugh track in there for no reason and it harms the atmosphere, but you can see them talk a lot about the issues about sports that were present in the late 1990s and remain issues today.

The laugh track in Sports Night really was terrible. Sorkin never wanted it and it got forced on him from the network. Haven't watched it in a long time so not sure on the timing but he eventually phased it out completely, by the end of the first season I think.

Thanks god. That is legitimately the one thing I don't like about this otherwise awesome show.

I hadn't watched any of Ray Donovan but I had DVR'd all of the episodes to date. Set down to watch the pilot ended up watching all 3. It's a lot better than I thought it was going to be. Not in the class of the Sopranos but I'd say with a lower budget it's really as good as Boardwalk Empire.

    Whose Line Is It Anyway?

Just as awesome as it ever was. No show can make me laugh like this one can. I'll miss Drew Carey, because I don't see Ryan Stiles picking on the new host as much. But I really like the addition of a guest star (Kevin McHale was fantastic), and as long as Ryan and Collin are around, it'll be funny. (Plus, Wayne Brady is just a whole bunch of talent.)

Halfway through the pilot of FX's 'The Bridge.' So far it's pretty fantastic.

The pilot was very good. My main issue with it was that Kruger's character comes off as a boring Carrie Mathison clone. I'm hoping this is something they adjust as the show goes on.

Didn't bother with "Hemlock Grove", though I plan to check out "Orange is the New Black" at some point.
Orange is really, really, really good. Slightly fundamental in is structure (each ep featuring how one of the inmates got there), but nearly flawless in execution and completely unafraid of its subject matter. I'm not even halfway through, but I feel safe saying it's one of the best shows on TV/not TV. We've had so many great new shows for 2013. The fourth episode is easily one of the best episodes of a show this year, so subversive and still completely satisfying. Also one of the few good shows with a long name that is also a complete sentence.

I started watching Downton Abbey on Mon night. I'm now through the first 2 seasons (wed night). I can't stop watching this. It's so addicting and a ton of fun

Dexter... No idea what they are setting up. I suppose ultimately it could still be what I suspected all along but they short-circuited the drawn-out storyline I was expecting

    Falling Skies

Is it just me or is this show getting dumber by the second? I'm thinking somewhere in the 'eye worm' epidemic they've finally jumped the shark. If not that then
    Spoiler Spoiler:
I'm getting the feeling this show is meandering. They don't really have an ending, or even an explanation for a lot of stuff IMHO, and are making it up as they go along trying to fill out and fluff their way thru until a final season or episode looms.

Falling Skies probably should've been a mini-series with an actual storyboard and ending written.... and a laser path to get there.

I am finally watching season #2 of Justified. I thought season #1 was just OK, and if I hadn't heard so many great things about subsequent seasons I would have stopped after season #1.

Let me also recommend the new CNBC reality show The Profit. Premiered last week (Tuesday nights at 10:00) It is about a guy who who buys failing businesses and tries to turn them around. I found it very good. They just stick to the business, it isn't about their personal lives.

It's not just you. Last night was pretty painful, and I'm glad it's over for now. I think they have a good cast, it'd be nice if they found some new writers before next season.

[edit] Question. Why do sci-fi shows still pull the rapidly growing kid, when it always equates to jumping the shark?

I wish Dexter writers would stop rehashing the protege storyline :/, was really disappointed that happened.

    I was wondering that too...

And what is it with them constantly wanting to move the storyline forward so quickly yet looking more and more like they don't really have an endgame in mind anyway? I mean we go from a cliffhanger ending last season to a time jump this season.
    Spoiler Spoiler:

IOW the show is fast moving, but to apparently nowhere...

I've stuck with True Blood since the beginning, even beyond when it was mildly entertaining, but I think this is probably the end for me. This show is a complete and total waste right now. It's so convoluted and directionless that I honestly have no idea what the show is supposed to be about now.

There are only 2 episodes left this year so I'll finish the year off but I think I'm dropping it from my DVR list after this season.

I started watching true blood way, way too late, it appears. This is my third season I think. It looks like I missed all the good stuff. I just watch because it's something to watch at this point involving a genre I generally like.
