I've read all the books so far and a lot of you are going to be shocked, surprised, amazed, disgusted, etc next season which should be the best season of the series so far IF they portray it anything near book III.
I have heard that book 3 is going to be split into 2 seasons, which I really hope is true. As awesome as the season 2 finale was, the show was clearly scrambling to tie up most of the stories with the limited time they had, and some of the depth was lost in my opinion. A nice side benefit would be that since G.R.R. probably won't be finished with the next book before 2020, splitting the books into 2 seasons buys him a little more time to actually concentrate on writing for a change and finish the series.

Oh, and a fun Rowling vs Martin meme...

Season Finale of Mad Men - not as heavy as the episode before it but still powerful when you look into the subtle hints they've placed along the way for whats to come...

My wife was a little upset there was no watercooler event. I had to point out to her it's a drama, not MELOdrama. I think some people got to think of the show as a soap opera and not what it started out as: a staement of the time period in which it's set. Thematically, I think the finale was just about the strongest episode of the season. I REALLY loved it. I liked the setup of his realization in talking with Peggy that when someone is a star, that may mean they leave you so they can shine. When he came to that realization with Megan, then left us hanging with is response to the hot girls.....nice. Now he has two deaths he feels directly responsible for. The brother's ghost was a very nice touch on the heels of the FU suicide by Lane. Pete's bottomless hunger for knuckle sandwhiches is cracking me up. God, I hate that guy. They really set the show up to go in a TON of new directions next season. The wait for next season is going to be intolerable!
Hey! What're you kicking me for? You want me to ask? All right, I'll ask! Ma'am, where do the high school girls hang out in this town?

Mostly agreed, S_E, (Might want to put spoiler tags on some of the content just in case anyone hasn't seen the past couple episodes though.) though I think the first half or so of the ep was a little jumbly, not super focused. What the show always comes back to for me is that most of these characters are either about to or continuing to experience so much profound sadness. The last shot of the ep is so obviously symbolic that you know what's going to happen and it really hurts. So many shows and movies are about redemption and forgiveness, but MM just keeps running these characters through the ringer of ****-ups and sadness. Sometimes I root for a character to die, to finally put him or her out of their misery.

Definitely another fantastic season, despite just a solid finale for me. It's the best show ever, assuming seasons six and seven aren't monstrosities. I do wish they could have done a little more with the racial aspect of the show. I know it's always the characters' reactions to outside/historical events, but I think Weiner could have pulled in the 60s black experience a little. Nonetheless, great job and great effort.

The numbers of great shows to watch is dwindling. GOT, Parks, Community, MM, Veep all done. Girls finale this weekend. Can't wait till Louie and BB. Not much else?

Someone made a good point that the last shot looks a lot like Don's Snoball ad with the devil.

I'm pretty hyped about The Newsroom on HBO. Admittedly, I'm an Aaron Sorkin fan, but this looks pretty intriguing. Burn Notice is back. I'm looking forward to Falling Skies resuming for my B-move style fix and to stare at Moon Bloodgood. White Collar is just around the corner. I've got enough to tide me over. I just wish I got in on Breaking Bad on the ground floor. I'm hopelessly behind now.

I'm a big Sorkin fan. Sure a few of his projects have been flops, but when he is good he is good. Looking forward to Newsroom

As drawn out (and mundane) as the last season and a half of The Killing has been, tonight's season (series?) finale was one of the most satisfying i've seen in recent memory- every bit as good as the show's pilot. I'm glad i stuck with it.

I agree with you 100%. Very good episode, in fact I thought the last three eps were really good.

I like the show a lot.

First episode of the new season of SUITS - its a show that definitely has a template on how the plot arches on the individual episodes but I really like the big plotline which they're moving forward.

Getting rid of cable tv at the end of the month. Done overpaying for tv. I'll stick with Netflix for now. Might get Hulu+.

Top Gear season finale on the BBC. Where the boys see if they can pick up rallycross racing cheaper than picking up Golf as a hobby. Epic episode.

It's funny how people can watch the same show and come away with totally different view points. I thought the season finale of The Killing seemed forced and frankly I just didn't believe the ending at all.

I love the show in general but honestly was dissapointed with the ending and it also made me re-evaluate my feelings about some of the sub plots in the show over the past two seasons.

I suppose they could come back with a third season but in all honesty I don't know where they go from here.

    "Falling Skies"

I'm watching but I just get a funky vibe from this show. There's just a hokey feel I cannot shake while watching it. Some characters are a little (little?) cartoonish if you ask me.

Also, if I heard correctly there's been some writer changes from last season and some changes in the story. That stuff always concerns me because I'd like to know a show like this at least has a beginning and an ending on the storyboard with some rules in place for the stuff in between. It's starting to feel like stuff is just happening and they will figure out what it means later when they decide what the endgame is.

It's hard for me to believe this group of the resistance can operate so in the open with what is supposedly a technologically advanced enemy. Particularly when the story arc seems to show the aliens are actively looking for them.
    Spoiler Spoiler:

I suppose one of the reasons I feel like there might not really be an ending on the storyboard is how slowly the show has been in explaining exactly what the aliens are up to and why they are occupying earth or what the goals of the resistance actually are (and what their general idea is on how to reach those goals).

If they do a third season, and I certainly hope they do, they could do another murder investigation, although I'm not sure if they will somehow tie it into the mayor and his administration.

Legend of Korra Season 1 finale - There are a heap of criticisms that can be piled onto this first season, including the pacing and not paying off certain themes and character arcs. It was really weird watching a Nickelodeon show week to week and reading incredibly in-depth reviews as if we were dissecting The Wire. The A:TLA fandom is a special one. All things considered, I think LoK surpassed everything the first series did from animation to action to themes to maintaining status as best kids-oriented animated work ever. This finale featured some amazing action sequences, paid off most of the dangling plot threads, and just went to very dark and interesting places.

    Spoiler Spoiler:

For a show so ambitious, it really delivered almost everything it could. It had about the same ambition as a Game of Thrones season but with a third of the time. (Season 2 is a long way away; I guess I gotta deal with it.) LoK is a wonderful addition to the A:TLA universe, and I'd recommend it to pretty much anyone. (Except people who use tumblr.)

It is on my DVR, but have not watched yet. I did sneak a peek though and it has a different look than a normal TV show. Has more of a look in the way it is shot to a movie. Hope to watch it tonight

It's got potential. If you're an Aaron Sorkin fan, you'll enjoy it. It's pretty standard fare for him. Preachy with a few too many monologues but still somewhat entertaining and thought provoking while unabashedly remaining as liberal psuedo-porn.

I liked Jeff Daniels immensely. After reading the ESPN book, it seems like his character is pretty clearly based on Keith Olbermann. Genius but generally an insufferable dick. But so far he's pulled it off without me hating him which is commendable. I thought his performance seemed fake in the beginning but by the end of the pilot he had totally redeemed himself.

I hated the British girl. I can't think of any other way to say it. Hopefully she improves.

As a pilot, it has succeeded because I'll keep watching.

I really enjoyed the Newsroom. Start was very good, middle dragged for a bit and had acting issues, but then over the last 15-20 minutes every one of the actors tightened up the ship and delivered a very gripping and tight finale I felt.
