Veep - If you've seen In The Loop, you kind of know what to expect from Iannucci. If not and if you're not a poli-satire junkie, this probably won't appeal to you. The jokes are as tightly packed as any show on right now. J L-D was great as usual; Matt Walsh stood out, especially with his Tom Hanks line. I think it may fall into similar trappings that ITL did with not being relatable or complete enough, but as far as sharp, smart comedies go, it looks very promising. What an amazing pairing of back-to-back shows!
I REALLY liked Veep, but I bet it gets hit with the curse of a lot of my favorite shows. I think it's going to end up being too smart for it's own good. There was so much subtle humor, I bet it's going to go past a lot of people.I think JLD is underated as being one of the great TV comedians of our time. I hope it kind find an audience, cause like you said, it could have a kinda narrow appeal, although considering the ton of actual news shows out there, I have to think an audience is out there.
Hey! What're you kicking me for? You want me to ask? All right, I'll ask! Ma'am, where do the high school girls hang out in this town?

I think it will be fine. HBO is the perfect place for it. It's critically acclaimed, wouldn't be surprised if it gets a renewal in the next few weeks.

Early days, but Veep looks awesome. The writing is just as sharp as it is in The Thick Of It and In The Loop but it's probably missing a Peter Capaldi. JLD is great but there's nobody that's going to fill that man's shoes.

The mid-season finale of South Park was fantastic last night, one of the best kids-being-kids episodes ever. It had everything you could want: homophiliaphobia, Brad Paisley, Chris Andersen, subtle racism, Cartman racism, and a continuation of the great Garrison-lectures-about-television gag.

I would think the fact that they are 16 and pregnant established that fact up front.

The ending was solid, but I wish this song could have played during the credits.

I actually like this show. James Van Der Beek plays himself on the show and it's pretty funny.

2 episodes of The Walking Dead. Heating up real fast.

Lori is an absolute idiot for going after Rick in the car and then wrecking it. She's a total loser so far on the show, really hate her character.

4 episodes left for me to watch now. Woot!

I also started watching Break In and I think Community fans would like it. I've noticed some similarities to Abed/Troy Community. The tech guy is really into tv shows/movies and they've flashed weird comic book drawings on the screen.

Lots of stupid people on the show. I can't stand the little boy more than anyone, he's a terrible actor.

I thought season one was solid. I found myself liking the show more and more in season 2. I can honestly say I was disappointed by the season premier when the show started. Not because it wasn't good, just that it's the opposite of scary and they pimped the show on Halloween. Because of that, I thought it was supposed to be somewhat scary but not even close.

I really enjoy Break In as well. Although I haven't caught it since it came back.

Glad Community is getting renewed, not as glad that it's only for 13 episodes and it might get pushed to midseason. Still much better than it being gone altogether. Hopefully there is a similar announcement for Parks soon.

NBC has renewed Community for a 13-episode fourth season, as per the Hollywood Reporter. The deal is not for a final season, like the deal for 30 Rock announced earlier today, but there is no news on whether or not there will be the potential for more episodes if the show exceeds expectations (or simply performs slightly better than the new comedies on the network). Presumably, that information will become more clear when NBC announces whether the show will be on in the fall or will be pushed to midseason (which would make a full back nine order more difficult). If it aired in the fall, Community would become, in effect, one of NBC's new shows, competing with them all to be one of those picked up for the back nine. There is precedent for this in recent NBC history, with Chuck receiving a 13-episode pickup for its fourth season, an order that was increased by 11 episodes when the episodes that aired in the fall over-performed expectations. (The spring episodes then quickly sank into the ratings toilet.)
In the meantime, in case you need something to freak out about, this Deadline report on the renewal suggests there exists a possibility Dan Harmon will no longer be the series' showrunner. With executive producers Neil Goldman and Garrett Donovan exiting for their deal with Fox, that would leave a big vacuum on the show (unless Harmon stepped down as showrunner but continued to be the series' head writer somehow). Since the Deadline report suggests this is just one of many possibilities, we will choose to ignore it and be happy about the renewal news.
