Tinsley will be "healthy", in the eyes of many he already is healthy and in the eyes of most, he never was necessarily significantly unhealthy. Problem is he becomes healthy when he wants to be and the team isn't able to gel like it needs down the stretch. Tinsley in my eyes can never be an answer to winning a championship, but I'm just convinced that he's untradeable given his contract situation (BYC).

NOPE. Too many things would have to turn out just right. If all these things happen miraculously, I will be ecstatic of course.

I think we wanna play the Pistons in the second round. Early enough for good health, late enough for chemistry to be good. I think it's possible. They aren't as invulnerable as they seemed early on. Still an excellent team and an incredibly tough team to beat but not impossible. If by some miracle we make it to the Finals, I don't like our chances at all against the West. The Spurs, Mavs, and Suns are all too tough and terrible matchups for us.

It's really hard to say. We'll have to see how JO and Tins mesh with the new team.

We have most of the pieces, though. With everyone healthy, we're set at pretty much every position. If we get (and stay) healthy, and Jack gets hot at the right time, we have an outside shot as a darkhorse. More than likely, though, we need to re-sign Peja and Freddie and acquire a new center (I like Scot but he's a back injury waiting to happen at this point) and we should be up there next year.

We basically have no chance to win the championship this year. Keep in mind probably only 4 teams have a real chance of winning it all this season. That is just the way the NBA is

Call me a homer (shut up, Kstat ), but I think all six of these teams have a shot, in that order.

Can we win a championship this year? Hell no.

Next year? It will take one hell of an off-season AND one hell of a healthy season to make it happen.

No way this year. Otherwise it would be one for the history books.

The Suns are gonna have just as big integration issues as we are. The Mavs have as much to prove as we do. And who knows when/if Miami will really wake up.

The only thing I see separating us from teams 3-5 is that, for much of the season, the players on our roster have been injured/insane. That doesn't necessarily make them stronger contendors come playoff time.

Right now, only the Pistons and Spurs have proven anything. Everyone else is full of question marks.

    Pistons
    Spurs
    Mavs
    Heat

Those are the only 4 teams that can win it all this season, and the Heat barely, barely make the list.

I think the Suns have a better shot than the Mavs.

The Suns have an easier road to the Conference Finals. The Mavericks, on the other hand, have to face the Spurs in the second round. So I agree with Shade.

Actually, I've felt that way for a little while now. I just don't see this "improved Dallas defense" everyone keeps talking about. They look pretty much the same to me. As Dirk goes, the Mavs go.

    I doubt it

And I just wanted to mention that I am very confident we could beat the Spurs if we somehow miraculously made it to the Finals. I dont know why but it has always seemed like we had their number in the past. The Suns and the Mavs: Im not so sure about.

I suppose we could. I mean any team that makes the playoffs can win the championship.

Should fans of a team hovering around .500 be talking about a championship?

I'm still pretty happy with the team right now but talking about a championship for this season is putting the cart before the horse IMHO.

There is still a huge mountain to climb and LOTS of questions to be answered. One game at a time...

Nuntius was right. I was wrong. Frank Vogel has retained his job.

As a fan I always hope but I couldn't say with a straight face to anyone that the Pacers have a chance.
"They could turn out to be only innocent mathematicians, I suppose," muttered Woevre's section officer, de Decker.

"'Only.'" Woevre was amused. "Someday you'll explain to me how that's possible. Seeing that, on the face of it, all mathematics leads, doesn't it, sooner or later, to some kind of human suffering."

Yeah, but we're hanging around 0.500 without our two best players.

Once JO and Tinsley are healthy, anything is possible.

*EDIT - and everyone was counting my Steelers out in early December, too. As they just proved, getting healthy at the right time of the season can go a long way...

** 2nd EDIT - and we don't have to worry about you-know-who sabotaging another playoff run, if they do get hot...
Why do the things that we treasure most, slip away in time
Till to the music we grow deaf, to God's beauty blind
Why do the things that connect us slowly pull us apart?
Till we fall away in our own darkness, a stranger to our own hearts
And life itself, rushing over me
Life itself, the wind in black elms,
Life itself in your heart and in your eyes, I can't make it without you
