Kenny Anderson backed up Jamaal Tinsley on Wednesday, marking a change in Carlisle's substitution pattern. Not a lasting one, though.
Anthony Johnson has been the backup throughout the season when he hasn't been forced into the starting lineup by injuries or illness. He drew what essentially was his first non-appearance by coaching decision. He was on the active roster for the season opener at Detroit but didn't play because he was still healing from a broken hand.
Carlisle said Johnson will play against New Jersey, his former team, Friday at Conseco Fieldhouse.
"I'm trying to keep both guys tuned up and rested," Carlisle said. "I've got a lot of confidence in both of them."
Anderson had five rebounds, three assists, three turnovers and no points in 14 minutes.
