Don't ask Marvin Harrison what he did during the bye week. "Batman never told where the Bat Cave is," he explained.

Well Bill Simmons should be a GM on an NBA club then, since at the same time teams wanted to trade up for Darko, he apparently had the secret info Darko isnt going to pan out. Congrats, swami.
    +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

S0, you agree that Darko has been a disappointment to date?
This kind of reminds me in a way of when Jeff George for the Colts
came in for a work out and he absolutely wowed them with his abilty to
throw the ball, especially throwing it long. After that they were
obsessed with him. That did not turn out well by any stretch. When Darko had his work out all you heard was he has got mad skills. Dumars was
obsessed with him after that and nothing was going to change his mind.
Now the Pacers fell for that with Bender and his McDonalds all-american
game showing. Pacers are still waiting for the pay off on that decision.
All that considered I would have chosen Mello.

I feel the same now as I did last summer:

If the Pistons had picked Carmello instead of Darko they'd be ready to win the NBA title THIS YEAR.

The difference between Carmello and Prince will be more than the difference between Darko and Okur.

    As for defense, he's a 19-year-old kid.

How many rookies are great defenders their first year? None? Even big men who get lots of blocks as rookies are regularly burned. How good was KG his first year out of high school? I guess that means he's a suck defender.

I don't know how good of a defender Anthony will end up being - and neither does anyone else. He does, however, have the physical tools to be very solid. Now he just has to use them.

None of this has anything to do with how good Darko will be in 3 years. I have no idea and won't until he gets consistent PT. For now I'll give Dumars the benefit of the doubt but that still doesn't change my opinion - the only thing that will would be the Pistons winning this year's title.

If you're here long enough, you'll learn to take whatever writerman- oops i mean Newyawk- says with a grain of salt. Everything he says is anti-Pistons, and he really doesn't live in reality, so don't let him get to you.
    He shoots, he scores!

    Only I wouldn't say anti-Pistons, I would say anti-logic and anti-sense.

But you're very perceptive, for a Pistons fan!
    :P

FWIW, I think Carmello would have been a much better pick now and for the forseeable future, so I'm in the totally odd situation of partly agreeing with something NewYawk said. Wow. Signs of the apocolypse.
The poster "pacertom" since this forum began (and before!). I changed my name here to "Slick Pinkham" in honor of the imaginary player That Bobby "Slick" Leonard picked late in the 1971 ABA draft (true story!)
