    BLAH!

I have suffered these past months while awaiting my ADSL, but in a few hours the time has come once again that i will be connected by a 2Mbps adsl line WOOOHOOOO

dial-up, <shiver> I remember my first modem; a whopping 300 Baud (Bitrate i.e. Bps, not even Kbps, that was my next (expensive) BIG improvement, I went to 1200 Bps or 1.2 Kbps!

nowadays, 33.6 is old fashioned, 56.6 standard on a notebook, and isdn at 64.4 a temp step in the right direction.
Next step 54Mb wireless, Gb wireless and so on, we are moving in that direction, so we are getting there, don't forget that on wireless network the cable companies lose out, for a large part :P so prices are competitive and roll-out has still a value to the dollar, LOL let's hope we can all enjoy it soon, yet i kindly ask those of use in more fortunate circumstance (i.e. broadband) to "think" about those of us on dial-up, so they can participate as anyone else. i.e. trim your pictures size and please put in links to pictures you want to post instead of the picture itself, those who are on dialup will miss them anyway, whether you posted them or not, a thread with a large picture will be neglected because it takes 5 minutes just to get that on screen

I got cable about 4 months ago, and I can't imagine living without it. It'd be like living without air, or food, or

    Pretty impressive numbers.

High speed at the office; dialup at home.

But I'm getting the family DSL soon as a combined birthday present.
Why do the things that we treasure most, slip away in time
Till to the music we grow deaf, to God's beauty blind
Why do the things that connect us slowly pull us apart?
Till we fall away in our own darkness, a stranger to our own hearts
And life itself, rushing over me
Life itself, the wind in black elms,
Life itself in your heart and in your eyes, I can't make it without you

What you think I know what that is because I did not have one?

We had the Vic 20 first then the 64 you name it we had it. And we used a very slow modem to direct connect to other comodores and type messages to each other. It was so slow you could watch the type as it came accross the sreen

For their time (mid 80s), C64s were the bomb, actually. They had the best sound chips on the market, and decent graphics. Plus it was SOOOO easy to get pirated games (in 5th grade I remember having HUNDREDS of free games).

I'm a dork though. After falling in love with the Zork trilogy I sat down and wrote my first program (a lame text-based game) in C64 basic when I was like 10 years old.

The C64 sound chip is actually still around in the form of a synthesizer called the SidStation...

And, yeah, we had Prodigy and later Compuserve along with a 2400 baud modem. All you could really do with it was go to local bulletin boards and post messages...

    fun tho.
