Default Peja this evening: To play or not to play...

It's pretty clear that Peja is unlikely to play this evening....but I keep thinking...why not? Are offensive sets in the NBA so difficult that he couldn't play limited minutes? Defensive sets?

I'm talking about 8-10 junk minutes...why not play him?

With Foster out, JO out, etc...doesn't it make sense?

What are some arguments for and against?

I didn't think he would...but my question is still the same: Why not?

Is this an adjustment thing on Peja's part? The team's part? Both?

I wish he would play, but it's easy to understand why he wouldn't. They want to give him some time to practice with the team and to get comfortable. They respect Peja and realize that he's spinning right now. Give him a chance to get a grip. Also, they want him to look good and play well when he first hits the court as a Pacer - so that he comes across well to the fans. They have to sell him a little.

I think the reason was to get his living arrangement's worked out and his wife is 7 months pregnant , so that can be alot to gather up quickly. It was pretty much said he wasn't going to play tonight , according to Pacers Site Tuesday will be his first game.

Stojakovic, fatigued from two days of cross-country travel, was not in uniform Friday night against Cleveland. The Pacers thought it best that he take advantage of the opportunity for three days of practice before making his debut in their next game Tuesday in Washington.
