I'm interested in seeing how many would pull the trigger on this deal if it were on the table.

Personally, I'm not sure what I would do. I like JO, but I'm scared to death of his injury prone-ness.

Yes - JO is damaged goods. He's become injury prone and probably always will be.

    I said: Yes, reluctantly

I like JO, but he is set to make 18M next season, with 3 more years after that. That's up there with Webber, Garnett, Marbury, Iverson, Kidd.

I'm not suggesting he's not worth it -- he certainly is in comparison to most of those players -- but look at how those contracts have kept Philly, Minny, and Jersey from putting together a team that can compete long term. They have little flexibility to improve their roster.

Then consider Detriot. They arguably have top 5 starters at each of their positions, yet are paying no single player more than around $10M. Plus they have the financial flexibility to use their full MLE each summer.

Now, I don't know how similar Bosh's contract will end up being to JO's when he signs a new one (probably at or near the max allowable, though), but if we're going to make a change this is the summer to do it.

I voted yes, but if we do trade for him we have to do the extention at the time of the trade for salary reasons. Anyway, you would want to because if we don't lock him up then the Lakers will swoop in and take him.

Yes, very, very reluctantly. It would be very sad and it would be against everything Donnie Walsh has done as a GM as he always stands by players that stand by him. JO would be getting screwed hard in this one. Getting Bosh would just be from the stand point of winning more games in the future for a longer period of time. I love JO and it would be very sad to see it go so I doubt and kind of hope he doesn't though I would do it if we got Bosh and Rose for JO. If we have to give p anything other than JO then HELL NO!

Definately. I would throw in Tinsley too.

They probably wouldn't do it though.

If the Raps don't trade away Jalen before the deadline, then a trade this summer of Jalen and Bosh for JO would work. If they trade Jalen over the next month for an expiring contract, however, then they should be under the cap this summer and able to do a straight JO for Bosh trade.

    The sticking points:

    1) Raps have to be convinced Bosh won't resign with them
    2) Raps have to think they can't get better than JO for Bosh
    3) Raps have to think a Bosh trade this summer would be better for them than waiting until the summer of 2007 when he'd be a restricted FA
    4) Pacers have to be convined that Bosh will sign an extension with them this summer

What makes this slightly more than daydreaming or idle speculation is that ESPN interview with JO earlier this month that claimed the Pacers and Raptors discussed a JO/Bosh trade this past summer -- so it could happen.

J.O. is never getting traded...and he shouldn't be. He is by far the most popular Pacer among casual fans and he is generally a nice guy. He is the image of the Pacers and very popular with other NBA fans too. Donnie wouldn't do it to J.O. I think he retires a Pacer. HOWEVER, from a strictly basketball point of view, of course we do this trade. Bosh is younger and still improving while he has proved to be a proficient scorer who can stay on the court (no injuries). I like Bosh a lot but I like J.O. as a player too much on and off the court and you have to take both things into account. Besides, does anyone really believe Bosh isn't bolting for LA next summer if he can?

I voted "no...reluctantly". No doubt Bosh is a great talent, but I like Jermaine as the center of our team right now. I dont think its fair to pin everything on him, and god knows, he at least 'says' all the right things. On top of that, we all know what happens when you sell your soul for talent...

I think everyone knows my position on this one...I've been calling for it since the summer (at a time when I realistically think we could have snagged him): http://www.pacersdigest.com/forums/s...ght=trade+bosh

Unfortunately, Bosh has really taken off this year (whereas during the offseason, there were still many questions surrounding his game and future).

Also, there is no more Rob Babcock in the head office to take advantage of.

If you're ok with knowing that you'll only have him until the Summer of 2007, its a definite yes.

I voted Yes because right now Bosh seems like the better player and he would really help our team out.Hes a young player and has a nice person.Bosh is shooting better from the floor then Jermaine Oneal and with Tinsley or Sarunas J setting him up it would surely make him a better player then before. But by any chance is there any rumors about this trade because i would love for this to happend.

Just because Phil blabbed to the media that they would actively pursue Bosh during free agency does not mean you are getting him. You seem to be quite confident that you'll land him.

All he wants to do is win. And if you put him in a winning environment, with a classy organization and stability I think he will fall in love with whomever that team may be.

How about a summer trade/sign&trade of Tinsley and JO for Bosh, James, and Rose...

First off no I wouldn't trade JO and secondly that deal would only happen on NBA Live, not in real life. How stupid do people think Toronto is to trade a young stud getting what? ALMOST 20 and 10 for a often injured, highly paid star?
