If he leaves, then he leaves. That opens up the 6mil he was making, not to mention the cash he's going to want, for a FA.

Couple that cash with Bender's, Pollard's, and Gill's little less than 1 mil, and that's a hefty contract for one player, more like 2.

If that's not future, then I don't know what is.

But we can just think in terms of who's going to physically going to be here, instead of actually thinking what each step opens up.

Better read the CBA again sir. We are so far over the cap that half the team could leave at once and we still wouldn't be able to go after FA's. All Peja leaving will do is get us under the Luxury tax or even further below it.
If you get to thinkiní youíre a person of some influence, try orderiní somebody elseís dog around..

Let's just sign Marcus Fizer for the remainder of the season before we make rash decisions. He can give us a boost at PF and some needed post scoring while JO is out.

I guess we don't have to worry about how Granger is going to find minutes now. We're going to get to see how he fits in at the 4.

I hardly doubt he'll leave though.......

There's gonna be more than enough to re-sign him and still lower payroll.

Because this year seems like a washout and if we lose Peja to free agency it is akin to getting that #6 from Wendys for Ron.

Peja was a this year move - Maggette was more of a future move was my interpretation.
    Agreed.

    O'NEAL OUT 8 WEEKS
The Pacers announced today that All-Star Jermaine OíNeal is expected to miss a minimum of eight weeks with a significant tear in his left groin. OíNeal sustained the injury during the Pacersí loss at Cleveland, Jan. 24. Itís doubtful surgery will be required for the injury. The Pacersí medical staff will have no further comment on the specific injury or the timetable for his return.

That's actually a pretty good idea.

Larry is not coming back, he didn't have a meeting with Orlando for not reason, yeah he is coming back to the NBA but not to the Pacers, the notion that he is a taking a year off and then come back is absurd.

At least Jermaine has a good excuse for why he didn't bring a championship to Indy. This is a little too convenient for Jermaine.

Runi and Peja will lead this team to the lottery though, maybe we can draft the next Bender.

We should've traded for Corey, sat him out the year, sat JO out, tanked the season, got a nice draft pick, all the while padding Tinsley and Jacksons stats to indrease their trade value. Trade Tinsley for a realiable, mature starting point guard, trade Jackson for a mature, sharpshooting shooting guard, and traded our good draft pick for a talented big man. I would have been willing to sacrafice this season to have done that, but it's too late now I guess.

It's last season all over again. Like last year when we got DD the day after JO went out injured, the same happens with Peja now on board.

We may not even MAKE the playoffs, people.

On the plus side, Bball gets his wish.

    This is a freaking nightmare.

Nightmare indeed. Except the game after JO went down was in March, now he wont be back until late March. Plus, wasnt DD back the game right after the Nuggets game? This time, Peja probably wont play until Tuesday.

No need to worry guys. Peja will revert to old form and keep us playing .500 ball until JO comes back. Another fact is that we play 8/10 games in Feb at home, So We should win at least half of them!! And another fact is that our deepness is paying off!!

Nightmare is right. The Curse of the Pacers lives on. Two seaons tanked in a row. I feel sorry for Carlisle. This stuff is out of his control, but it shortens his tenure. The sucky things about players getting injured alot is that the older they get, the more likely they are to keep getting injured.

Welcome to the Pacers' Downward Spiral. We're on the Highway to Hell.

I remember last year, when I thought all this would end, at least for this year.

8 weeks is the minimum he will be out.If we do make the playoffs and that is a big IFthen we probably play Detroit in the first round.

I think the lottery would sound better.

You might be right, but I'm a man of pride. I'd rather see us in the playoffs instead of the draft lottery. Even if it means us losing in 4-5 games in the opening round. I still havent thrown in the towel yet this season.

Could do this. Also, everybody was worried about DG's minutes before the JO injury. Now, he will get lots of minutes at the 3 and the 4.

I think losing five games in one round would set a new record for terrible playoff performance.

I'll just add to what others have said... a groin injury is no joke.

I was so upset when Travis Best wasn't playing and I was complaining b/c an NBA player making that kind of money would sit out for a groin injury.

...and then I actually had the injury and my perspective changed dramatically. This just isn't an injury that invokes pain, it is an injury that makes you useless. And unless they have made a miracle drug I wasn't using, they take FOREVER to heal.

So I understand the timetable, but this really sucks.
