ugh...Its not that I hate Tony. I just don't want him here. I always thought he was a loudmouthed blowhard, and his false bravado on the court (screaming during rebounds/dunks, agressively throwing his arms about after a rebound when no one was around, etc...) got real old. Plus I always had to deal with the AD advocates over Dale, and being solidly in the "Dale Camp" it got tiresome.
Yes... but he's an old fart now. He's gotta use all his strength for just playing the game. He doesn't ahve enough left to waste it on unnecessary yelling and flailing of body parts.

And, he's an experienced big body for the frontcourt. Which we seem to be in need of right now. Besides he might come and provide the requisite beatings for Jackson and Tinsley when they go into knucklehead mode.

How much is our trade exemption? If its large enough can we trade Pollard with the exemption for Tony?
I think the trade ex is $1.2m

Pretty sure Tony makes more than twice Pollard's salary, too.

Is AD better than Foster at this point? Is JO out for a substantial period of time? If yes to either or both, then AD will work good here.

They could trade AD for Pollard and Bender straight up and not surrender all of their cap relief. We could even give them Eddie Gill as a parting gift.

Larry is not coming back, he didn't have a meeting with Orlando for not reason, yeah he is coming back to the NBA but not to the Pacers, the notion that he is a taking a year off and then come back is absurd.

So did his former employee, but that didn't stop Zeke from trying anyway.

Woo! That means we effectively traded Brad Miller for Antonio Davis!

    I'd still do it.

I think Chicago would definitely take AD back. It's up to Kendra whether they go or not. Personally, I don't care if he comes here or not.

I'd kiss Bird's *** if he got Peja AND then AD. That would be sweet. I'd love seeing some old Pacers back. It was great to see Dale back last year and I just would love to see AD back here.

If the Knicks would take it a Pollard/Bender trade for AD works via real GM.

If Bender does not retire before a trade, can his salary come off the books once he retires w/ his new team?

Maybe the Knicks can trade the Bulls another 1st rounder for taking AD off their hands.

Thus, Brown's line about something "weird" happening -- although he downplayed it later -- suggested something could be up, such as the seemingly perpetual pursuit of Toronto's Jalen Rose (for whom Davis would be a salary-cap match).

Portland also reportedly wants Davis' expiring $13.9 million contract in any deal for small forwards Darius Miles (soon to return from knee surgery) and/or Ruben Patterson (just back from a team suspension). The demoted Trevor Ariza also could be included in either deal or another trade.

So, while the Kings try to pull the trigger on an Artest deal the Knicks couldn't make, Brown's team believes the time to start saving its season is now.
I know Zeke is stupid sometimes....but he knows how to use his expring contracts for players that other teams don't want that fit their needs. It looks like Brown needs and wants some more help to help them through the rest of the season.

They need a decent SF and could part with Davis for either Darius Miles or figure out a way to get Jalen Rose.

It's still a little unclear when his salary comes off the books but one thing for certain is that once he retires, insurance will pay the remainder of his salary.

I think NY would do the deal if the Pacers threw in their trade exception (basically 2.5 million in cash) for a 2nd round pick in return. I don't know why the Pacers wouldn't offer it.

As far as Miles or Patterson go, both the Blazers and (obviously, perpetually) the Knicks are over the cap, and neither of those players come close to matching AD's salary, so it wouldn't work (a package of players might, but that would be a lot for the Blazers to give up for just an expiring contract).

Also, I think the Raps want more than an expiring contract for Rose, so if the Knicks offer more then they might get AD - although, did he burn bridges there when he left? I don't recall.

So....6 years later Bender has "left the building" (tho not the payroll) and there are fans wanting AD back now? 6 years later... or is it 7 now?

Something is wrong with this picture.

Retirement does not remove salary from payroll, it stays there and counts for the LT till the end of the contract.

Bender ca not be traded without the new team taking the hit for the remainder of the contract, no insurance company is going to cover him.

Bender only has value to the Pacers in that if he retires for medical reasons, he might come of the LT this year, and the insurance is paying his salary already anyway.

I think we should bring him back. The Pacers are lacking in toughness, fight, and swagger, you know? I really think having Kendra around could help out in that department.
