Apparently, the Knicks may be on the verge of releasing Antonio Davis. I would love to have him back at the minimum, especially with JO hurt.

Yep. He's in the last year of his deal too and would be had on the cheap just like DD last year.

He'll probably want to go back to Chicago though but I think Indy would be a good second choice.

Larry is not coming back, he didn't have a meeting with Orlando for not reason, yeah he is coming back to the NBA but not to the Pacers, the notion that he is a taking a year off and then come back is absurd.

If/when he is cut, I really could see him coming back. One reason is I think he's going to want to be near Chicago.

And with the incident in Chicago last week, I'm not sure Chicago would sign him. But who knows what they're thinking.

Indiana's close to Chicago and has a need for him. Plus, he has a history here.

Anyone know if he's still on good terms with DW/the Pacers?

Since his family is in Chicago, that might be his first choice (unless the trade soured him to that franchise), but Indy is damn close and already familiar, so...

I would welcome back the other Davis bro with open arms. Don't know what would happen PR wise though. I mean it appears we are going to be shipping out someone who went into the stands just to bring in another one...

If JO is hurt for the season, yes. If he's not, no. We have enough decent front court players in JO, Jeff, Cro, David (I still believe in him) and sometimes Dan. Even Scot Pollard is when healthy good for some valuable minutes off the bench.

Zeke would be stupid not to trade him for some talent. A team out there is gonna want to trade someone for an Expiring Contract.

The problem is that the entire Frontcourt PF/C rotation can't be relied upon to be completely healthy. The only one that probably can is Harrison...and he can't stay out of foul trouble.

Tony, would be a good vetren presence in the locker room too.

He is the president of the player's union afterall. Gotta be some leadership in there somewhere....

    You're mixing positions though.

AD is a center, and an upgrade over everyone that we have.

Cro can't play the 5, neither can Granger.

AD is better than Harrison, Pollard, and Foster.

It accomplishes the samething Harrison does, and lets JO play the softer post player on D.

Plus there's an open roster spot with the cut of Samaki.

I can't believe I forgot the stands incident was in Chicago. Still, I wouldn't be surprised if Chicago still would sign him. I don't know if he would go after that, though.

Any improvement to the Knicks is going to take a while.

I thiink that they want to shed salaray without taking exchanging bad contracts with another team. They don't want to get rid of a huge expiring contract just to take on a 2 to 3 year contract that is just as bad.

I think we could use a guy like ADavis. I'm sure he is still on good terms with the Pacers and wouldn't mind coming back to us.

I was making the assumption that AD plays both the 4 and the 5 position. That's why I mentioned Cro and Dan.

If he'd only play center, he would mainly take away David's minutes and stop/slow down his developing process. AD may be better than David now but in a few years he'll retire, so he'd be more of a short term solution.

Well, if they would sign Tonio (without JO being out), then I guess their belief in David is not very high anymore.

Despite being over the cap, we have lots of money to get him here including but not limited to about half of our MLE and the trade exception from the JJ/Suns trade.

    We can easily afford him.

Don't think we can use the trade exception in this instance, but offering the remainder of our MLE for 1/2 a season seems reasonable.

He's listed as a C/F but he would play the 5 alongside JO.

I think he would be great for Harrison.

He's the type of player that needs to be around David. We talk about the need of a big man's coach, and he would be a great teacher.

DD was a great one to learn defense off of, but AD is the type of player that Harrison should be. A 12 and 8 kind of guy.

He may learn from him, but the fact that his minutes will be cut just does not seem a good thing to me.

ugh...Its not that I hate Tony. I just don't want him here. I always thought he was a loudmouthed blowhard, and his false bravado on the court (screaming during rebounds/dunks, agressively throwing his arms about after a rebound when no one was around, etc...) got real old. Plus I always had to deal with the AD advocates over Dale, and being solidly in the "Dale Camp" it got tiresome.

Well, you don't have to worry about the latter anymore since DD's a friggin' Piston now.

How much is our trade exemption? If its large enough can we trade Pollard with the exemption for Tony?
