    Default Make no mistake...

If this trade finally goes through, the Pacers will have exactly who they wanted this year. It's pretty obvious now that we've been trying to trade Ron for Peja for quite some time, even before his trade demand, so Donnie and Larry must be ecstatic if this deal goes through. It also means that they should feel this is a championship contender with Peja. I hope and pray they're right.

Has there been any update on JO? Is he ok, injured, out for the year?

Right now that is a big concern. Getting Peja without JO playing for the rest of the year makes us a sub .500 team.

    Any updates?

Still not anything near a championship team Shade, but with the removal of one head case were another two away from getting back on track.
You know how hippos are made out to be sweet and silly, like big cows, but are actually extremely dangerous and can kill you with stunning brutality? The Pacers are the NBA's hippos....Matt Moore CBS Sports....

agreed...but there is now way we contend now if JO is out for any significant amount of time.

has there been any word on his status?

All i have heard is that his groin made a "pop" sound. makes me sick just thinkin about that.

Peja is apparently just as injury prone as Maggette. Unlike Maggette though, Peja is on the last year of his contract so he might not be a Pacer for long if he does come here.

As I said in another thread, it's actually kinda funny in a sick way that this happened to JO. Remeber last year, when we brought in DD (who, btw, was a FA at the end of the season), and JO got injured the game before and was out forever?

This is every bit mirroring last season. It's just insane.

I never thought about that before.

One more reason to give up on the Pacers.

I think we will re-sign him no matter what...

Agreed, Larry and Donnie have wanted Peja for years. If he plays as good or better than he has in Sacto then they will re-sign him.

That's DW and LBs call, if they wanted him as bad as it sounds (not just over the last two months, but over the past 2 years), they will find a way to get him re-signed. I seem to recall Reggie's and Pollard's contracts coming off the books next year. I think that 12m would probably help with re-signing him. (Just for the record I am not saying he is worth that much, but there is that money coming available, since you asked)

We'll only have about $50M in contracts next year. We could re-sign him to a rather significant contract and still be under the LT.

I'm not saying we should, but we certainly could.

Wow, I had no clue we'd have that much coming off the books next season.

Yep, in no small part due to Bender. Even more amazing, if we were to, say trade Ron and Austin for AD, we'd be flirting with being under the cap.

If this were the Peja of a couple years ago, it would be a championship move. As it stands now, I doubt it will improve the team much. I really wonder why we passed up on Maggette for a washed up has-been.

Oh, right, Bird's collection. Forgot about that.

Sad situation for everyone involved, but regardless, the state of Indiana is better off if he's finally gone. Hopefully he won't reappear two weeks later like some other dumb***es have.

Yeah, Artest drew me back to the fire. But you'd be surprised what you can do with two weeks of solid effort and motivation.

Plus, someone had to knock that Dad of yours off his pedestal once in a while.

AD would sign in Chicago if this happened, I'd imagine.

i don't understand how a team with current display can become a championship contender after adding just one player? is this even possible? they did have players in all positions, so Paja's coming will not change the team dramatically. however, they'll become very poppular overseas, which I like!
anyways, if we consider that current team was performing at 50%, then we can surely see it becoming a contender, but only if all of the remaining players and the team in particullar start to play to their potential. also coaches should rethink it all and maybe change something dramatically.

btw, so the trade has materialised after all?

from your lips to God's ear, man...

but.. Macijauskas and Stojakovic in the same team. is this a sick combo or what?! and Saras as well.. boy oh boy, you would have the best shooter in NBA after his prime and the best shooter of NBA in the making in one team. an the best man to give them the ball money can buy.

however, I've read that one Spanish club that is not even in Euroleague, but appearantly has bucketloads of money, is looking at Macijauskas.

    Again....silver lining time.

    Peja 16ppg/5rpg with 39% 3pt% and 92%FT%
    Artest 0ppg/0rpg with 0% 3pt% and 0%FT%

For the rest of the season....Peja will help out the team. This is the hand we have been dealt with after reshuffling. Its not the best hand...but its better then the hand that we had before....at least now we have a glimmer of hope of being competitive with the Pistons in the 2nd round of the playoffs instead of no hope and a p*ssed off player sitting at home collecting a paycheck.

I don't know what will happen beyond this season....but next season is next season.
Ash from Army of Darkness: Good...Bad...I'm the guy with the gun.

This is David West, he is the Honey Badger, West just doesn't give a *****....he's pretty bad *ss cuz he has no regard for any other Player or Team whatsoever.
