Be glad he does. You'll soon learn that clear-headed posters who aren't cynical are a real minority on this board.

P.S. Whoops. Thought you said "Do you post in every thread?" Oh well, opportunity for a warm fuzzy amidst all this chaos.

Ron better have a SWAT team escorting him to Conseco tomorrow morning.

As for that RealGM GS trade, I'll eat Kstat's shoe if that actually happened.
that shoe reference never gets old....

Yeah I have been talking to Rakestraw the last few days via email
I am trying to convince him to show up on PD from time to time like Mr. Boyle..

" As of now it's off..." was Rakestraw's info from a few minutes ago...

Pacers can still trade Ron if they suspend him without pay for the season. can't they
I assume so. So his contract would basically be frozen tell he his traded and activated by the new team? That would be bizarre, however. But Artest is probably sitting at home right now wearing a dress while licking a lollipop wondering what all of the fuss is about. That's bizarre.

I'd think so - there was plenty of trade speculation last season post-brawl. Of course sportswriters are some of the most consistently wrong people I've ever seen.

I've wondered for some time if the Pacers had grounds enough to suspend him. This will bring on a Players' Assoc. fight - they'll say he's ready, willing and able to play for the Pacers and shouldn't lose pay for that. It'll be interesting to see where that comes out if it happens.

But if Ron DID say he didn't want to play in Sacto, I'd think his trade value just dropped in half. What's half of Peja?

I wonder if we could do a cartilage transplant from Ronnie to JB...

That's it, we'll use him for spare parts!

However, this sounds like the makings of a horror story. JB's "crazy knees" will run him up into the stands at every opportunity.

Ron has been ordered into the Pacers office tomorrow morning and Ron has to tell them if he will go to the Kings. if Ron says no, he'll be suspended for the season without pay.

if Ron says he will go, the pacers will call the Kings ownership and try to make the deal.

    All according to Jim Gray

Pacers don't believe Ron's agent, they want to hear it from Ron himself.

Pacers have not spoken with Ron today

There's only one problem with this scenario.

The Maloofs have been wary of Ron for years, and were going into this deal reluctantly. The damage Ron did to this deal today just cannot be undone by Ron's words tomorrow.

    Here's the phone call.

DW: "Hey Gavin, its me, Donnie."

GM: "Uh, yeah, can you hold, I've got Elgin Baylor on the phone, and he's laughing his *** off."

    DW: "Okay"

    Two minutes later.

    GM, laughing, "Okay, whatcha got?"

DW: "Ron's here right now, he says he'd love to play for the Kings. He's even agreed to buy a ticket on Southwest and take the next flight. Stops in Kansas City and he changes planes, and it looks like he'll have to take a cab from the Oakland airport up to Sacremento. But he's really serious about this, he wants back on the court."

GM: "Let me think about it uh no!"

    Click.

    Donnie redials.

GM: "Barney's Bar-and-Grill, would you like reservations."

    DW: "Ron and a #1"?

    GM: "No."

    DW: "Pretty please??""

Mullin would be stupid not to pull back and now offer the Pacers any lowball offers.

    Next up, Bird dialing Mully.

Mully, recognizing the number on his callerID, "Word up, Larry Joe?"

Larry, "Pietrius and Diogu for Ron, can we work out the details?"

Mully, "Perhaps, but I was thinking more of Peitrus for Granger and a #1 instead."

Bird, "No way. Let's talk about Ron, straight-up. None of this complicated bull*****. You New Yorkers talk too fast for me."

Mully, "Okay, we've got this guy, and I think he'll be a legend in Indiana. Kid's name is Cheaney. Played some great games against Kentucky. Tough enough to put up with our good friend Bobby for much longer than either of us had to."

Bird, "I'm not taking Calbert f*c#!ng Cheaney for Artest, what happened to Peitrius and Diogu?"

Mully, "Not together, Ike is off the table."

Bird, "Fine, then I'll call Elgin and we'll just take a risk on Maggette."

Mully, "Good luck with that, although we think Pietrius' knees is better than Corey's foot."

Bird, grumbling, "Now what do I do?"

Mully, "I don't know, but good luck with that. Bye."

    Click.

Donnie, "This is why I wouldn't really give Ron to Billy Knight. Its tough to stick Ron on our friends."

It wouldn't be ethical to do such a thing.

Catch up on the thread already.....most of us have been resigned to making up the likely conversation between Mully and Walsh/Bird. Most of it ends with Mully hanging up on Walsh/Bird laughing hysterically.

No matter how the Maloof's feel, they just totally screwed up their relationship with Peja. Consider:

"The way I was treated today, I was disappointed," Stojakovic told ESPN.com in Philadelphia. "I feel kind of disrespected with the way I found out. Thank God they have TVs here. I understand being traded, but this is situation is weird. I had already planned my flight back to Sacramento, and now everything is reversed.
"I guess this is just a business, but the way I was told and the way I found out, I feel I deserved better from [Kings owners Joe and Gavin Maloof]. Anybody can get traded in the NBA, but the way I found out, it was disrespectful. I deserve better after seven and a half years."
Total SNAFU, handshakes and ice cream cones all around.

"Like [Jonathan Bender], AMC's Pacer was supposed to be fitted with a rotary engine--but both rotaries had technical problems late in their development (read: after incurring heavy research costs) that prevented them from seeing the light of day. Of course, both vehicles had plenty of problems that did reach production. The Pacer was a dud in terms of quality, execution and particularly styling. Make your own assessment about its bizarre proportions, but don't miss the one door that's bigger than the other."

Yep, I said somewhere else that if I were Petrie I'd be on the phone with Mully right now discussing a Peja for Petrius and Diogu swap, and if I could get close (Petrius and Beidens or however its spelled) then I'd do it.

If I were Petrie I might also look into a deal with Chicago for Ben Gordon and filler (probably hard to do $$$-wise), etc.

If this is true...HELL YES. This trade is sooooo much better than Peja.

I wish, but I don't believe for a minute that TPTB want Peja over Ike ALONE, much less with T.

That's MY dream trade. We get TOUGH quick.
