Default This season - Indiana vs. Detroit

Question, can and/or will we beat Detroit even once this season?

Also, do you think we'll even win 5 games in a row this regular season?

If the Wizards can do it, Indiana can.

That said, their focus will be a little better against the Pacers than the Wizards. They will also have a much better bench than they had in November also.

I also think they cause a ton of matchup problems all over the floor for Indiana, especially at both guard positions and power forward, where most of the pacer big men have issues rotating out to the arc.

Of course, Indiana may improve their roster between then and now, so who knows.

It wasn't about being the team everyone loved, it was about beating the teams everyone else loved.

Pacers-Pistons is always a wild-card to me. They were the superior team in last year's playoffs and we won as many games then as two years ago when we were on a more equal level. I'd like to think they are more focused when playing us but what is up with those losses to us last year? I think we win once. I mean, the Wizards did it, the Jazz did it, sometimes it's about luck.

Of course I want to beat them 4 times, but if I'm being optimistic, I'd say we beat them twice. If I'm being realistic, I say we'll beat them once. Here's hoping that I'm wrong.

We'll beat them twice, and we'll lose one in OT. Hold me to it...

I think we will win at least 1 if not 2.

We can beat them atleast once. I dont know about the one coming up February 4th though..it's coming a bit too soon but luckily we'll be done with the back to backs and will have played on the first so we get 3 days to get our game plan and all that ready.

Depends what we get for Ron, if we ever trade him, that is. How the team is currently constructed, I can very easily seeing Detroit sweeping us.

Based on how the season is going, more Pacers will probably go down with injuries. Let's see...

    Tinsley - bicep/elbow, foot, groin...
    JO - Ankle/shoulder
    Artest - Brain...see ya.
    Bender - Knees...see ya.
    Pollard - Back
    Foster - Achilles/Hip
    Hulk - abdomen
    FJ - hand

So, is AJ, Cro, Granger or Jax next? BTW, contrast the Pacer injuries with Detroit's. Is this luck or bad personnel decisions? There seems to be a pattern here.

The way the Pistons are playing...I really wouldn't pick ANY team to beat them. I'm not saying they're going to go undefeated the rest of the season, I just can't make a case for other teams.

The rivalry doesn't mean near as much as it used to with Ron not playing.

The Pistons play 4 games in 5 nights twice this season. The first time was in December, and the Pistons struggled to defeat a bad Portland team at the Palace. The second time is February 4th, at Indiana. And the Pacers don't play the 3rd. That's going to be a real tough game for the Pistons to win.

Yea, that will be a loss, no doubt. Pistons suck on back-to-backs, much less 4 in 5 nights. Also April 9th is a morning game. The Pistons are absolutely awful on them. Rip can't get his shot going in the morning for some reason, so it throws us totally off. That is a toss up.

3 of our 5 losses have been on the 2nd of a back to back. Another was in 2OT after Ben missed a free throw that would have won it with about .3 seconds left on the clock, and the last was a morning game.

We're having a lot less trouble though since our bench has started playing a lot more.

That is true, but I still want to see it sustained for more than 3-4 games. Though if Dice plays like Dice and Delfino plays like he has been I like our chances. Hopefully, by then, Delfino will have totally sustained his current level of play.

The NY game was a big step for them, because Dice played his worst game of the season and the bench still had a great game. THey're breaking out of the habit of relying on Dice to carry them.

Delfino's rapidly becoming a very valuble player off the bench. There aren't many two-way reserves as talented as he is.

That was one game early on in the season (on the road, and on the 2nd of a back-to-back at that). I really like our chances when they come to the Palace. We won't ever play that bad, and they won't ever play that good again. Much less on the same night.

Either way, the Pistons are favorites in every game they play in at this point. The only game of the season they weren't favorites was @SA.

Considering the way both teams have been playing this year I'd say the Pacers don't stand a chance. Doesn't mean there won't be an act of God that gets us one win.

Bottom line...seven game series when they have time to rest, you're not beating Detroit this year. They are clicking that well. Of course, someone could get injured or you could throw in various IFs here but they are playing at a level above everyone else right now...

If the playoffs started tomorrow, I don't think there's a team in the league that could take more than a game from the Pistons in a 7 game series.

Alas, the playoffs don't start tomorrow. A lot could happen between now and then.
