    Default Keeper League

What is the interest in turning this league into a keeper league?

You would not be keeping your current lineup!

We would start from scratch, beginning with the draft next October.

I'd be a lot more interested than a one and done, but I'd just pray I don't get a crappy pick.

Sure, I would like too, but I have to keep Lebron, otherwise I'm against it .

Seriously, yeah with a totally new draft and everything from scratch, sure I would like that. I haven't played in a Keepers League so far.

What is a Keeper League, and how does it differ?

A "keeper league" is a league much like ours except we keep part of our roster.

In our league we re-draft our entire lineup every year. In a keeper we retain most of our roster from year to year.

    Ah, I see.

Either way is fine with me.

How many players do you keep/lose? Do you have a say as to which ones?

The numbers are different from league to league. In the ABA-KL we protect 9, in another league I'm in we only get to keep 7.

You always have final say in which players you protect or drop.

it is much more fun, beacuse even with a bad draft, you know if you build carefully (rooks) you will be a contender next season, trades are more long term etc in all it is just more challenging, makes you follow players closer and pay more attention to wavers and all that goes on.

I voted no simply brcause I'm already in a keeper league and I also like the year-by-year strategy.

Two leagues is as much as I can keep up with.
The poster "pacertom" since this forum began (and before!). I changed my name here to "Slick Pinkham" in honor of the imaginary player That Bobby "Slick" Leonard picked late in the 1971 ABA draft (true story!)

In the past I've not wanted to do this. But now that I see that you can keep only 9 players & still get some new ones, then yeah I'd go for that.

The results were over whelmingly split, so the ABA will remain a year by year league.

    However......

If there is enough interest we [I]might[I]consider forming another keeper. Displaced Knick has the ABA-KL & there might be an opening in that league come up over the summer.

This will give us something to talk about during that horrible month that follows July.

I'd like a keeper league I believe, but I'd be more in favor of only being able to protect 7 players . You are destroyed long term if you have a bad draft and only have to cut last 3 players off your bench. Makes improving year to year very hard.
