Default What makes the Pacers different?

I am a long time Pacers fan in China for over 10 years.
Pacers are having a tough time recently and sometimes I ask myself why I love this team so deeply even though Reggie retired.

Why do you love the Pacers?
And what kind of characters do you see in the Pacers that different from the other NBA teams?

Can I share your mind? Thank you!

Nice website although I did not understand anything Well for me what sets the Pacers apart from the rest is it's "NEVER SAY DIE" attitude. From Reggie's buzzer beaters to a team that still went deep in the playoffs with a depleted lineup. Yeah we have our slumps and bumps on the road but Pacer fans expect great quality basketball regardless of the lineup we put. And the biggest reason for that is because the Pacers have been giving us quality ball for over a decade now. CONSISTENCY and just hard nosed team basketball. Not much of the hype and style points but in no means lacking in the "drama".

4/9/2014 - Luis Scola also recorded a season high with 24 points and Evan Turner added 23 for Indiana.

Chinapacers, it's good to see someone from China who follows and loves this team!!! Good question!!!

To me the Pacers organization epitomizes a loving relationship between a basketball team, and its fans. Whenever I watch the Pacers at home or at the fieldhouse, I feel like I'm being loved in return. It's almost as if these invisible arms embrace me every time I see the team play. I don't know how to explain it any better, but that's the feeling I get. I'm a third generation Pacer's fan, at 33, so my family and the Indiana Pacers go all the way back to their inaugural season. My Grandmother used to go to the games at the Fairgrounds Coliseum at the Indiana State Fairgrounds. My Dad introduced me to them around 1978, when TV's still used a regular dial to "turn" the channel. Over the years I've cheered for them during seasons we lost 60 games, 41 games, and 21 games. I was a Pacers fan when being a Pacers fan wasn't cool!

In the late 70's and early to mid 80's our team struggled to survive. Nowadays it's pretty common to see us make the playoffs, but that wasn't always the case. What it boils down to is this team has lived the American dream, they started with nothing, and now have something beautiful. They've worked hard, they've been diligent as a franchise, they've sacrificed alot to stay in Indianapolis, and now they are the class of the NBA! I love this team!

I love the Pacers because they are Indiana.

I started watching the Pacers a little before the Pacers traded Rose and Best for Miller, Mercer, and Artest. I loved them even more because I saw Miller and Artest a few times and loved there games. I also like Reggie, of course and then JO and Foster Big Al and Freddie and so on. Even though some have done some stupid things i've still been a Pacers fan and always will be.

I'm in a PACER LOVE family where you were born blue and gold. Reggie stood out the most and I remember watching him when I was 5 and then I was attached and watched every game I could. Got my first job when I was 9 PACER BALL KID Got my autogrpahed pic with Uncle Reg and the hat and t-shirt. There's sooo much more but that's basically why.

Well the midwest is pretty boring overall and sports fill a void
in most of our lives. We all are competive at some level and
although we might not be male/female specimens for the olympics, we all
enjoy the team concept. Indiana is known for this and especially
our basketball. From pro to our high schools we all grew up
fans of some team and hated another. For me I hate, DUKE, Patriots,
Ben Davis(hs), Michigan football, USC, Ohio State and the Celtics.
The Pacers for the most part have always been a down and out team
that seems to fight back even though it always looks impossible.
Reggie has always embraced this and that is why i am a fan.

Thanks for your opinions, especially for the real long time fans who loves them for decades. That's exactly what I want.
I have been covering the Pacers daily news in Chinese for over 5 years. There are more Pacers fans in China than ever now.
But Pacers fans outside of Indiana are in a underdog role. We are always the minority but we find our way to shock the world by hard work or the Hoosier spirit.

They are fast becoming the Cubs of the NBA and we are becoming the MLB's version of Cub fans.
