Of rounding into form. Lately he's been more aggressive early in the games and down the stretch, the exact times he needs to put up shots.
In the last 12 games he's averaged 12 points per game from an average of 8 shots per game. In the previous 31 games he was only averaging 9 points and 7 attempts. Although the attempts are still close, he's taking shots more consistently. He had the game against the Nets where he inexplicably took just 3 shots but other than that, he's launched as many as 17 and no less than 5 during this stretch.
He's still not all the way there as far as his shot efficiency goes but he is getting to the free throw line a lot more. IMO, he still settles for too many 3pts when he could pump fake, step through, and drain the long two or drive for the floater. Behind the arch Reggie is a good shooter but within it, he rarely misses. If he could re-incorporate the mid-range shot into his arsenal, he'd be deadly once again. He's done it a little bit during this win streak but I'd like to see more of it.
Anyway, it's good to see Reg regaining his effectiveness for the Pacers. I wonder what exactly has contributed to it? The return of Tinsley to the lineup? Was he just rusty because of the offseason ankle surgery? Did he finally get tired of hearing the whispers about him being finished? It could be a little of all the above but whatever it is, I hope he can keep it up and bring a little bit of the old Reggie back.
