    Default Artest trade update?

A little note according to a "friend" the Lakers have now offered Lamar Odom. Donnie Walsh has gone dark ( not telling anyone anything) around Pacer offices.

Not saying Lamar Odom will be a Pacer only that Donnie is now in last stage of making a decision. The salary of Odom still makes it iffy its him coming here.

Good! He's in the last stage of a decison and Odom has relucantly been offered. That means we're getting close and that we're getting good value.

That said... I don't really want Odom. He'd probably have good value in a three teamer though.

    Your stuff is appreciated dd00.

    Kobe wants Artest.

    Kobe gets what he wants.

It will be interesting to see if anyone else ups their offer & what other players will be included in this deal.

Ron and Jackson works for Odom and Bynum. I would do that!

I read that Odom can play 2, 3, and 4. So put him at shooting guard and play Dan at small forward.

The more I think about that the better I like it.

Yes, depending on which of our other players LA would require in order to part with Odom, this is a good deal. Whether he comes to us or is used to get better talent from a third team, this can only be good for us.

They'd probably want Foster (maybe Jones or Johnson) packaged with Artest in order to get Odom. (The salaries of Jackson or Tinsley paired with Artest works for Odom, too, so there would seem to be a lot of possible scenarios).

Thanks for all these updates, dd00!

Hopefully we get a deal soon, and from what it sounds like, it will be soon.

Odom would be a reall freaking weird SG.

I'd rather go with a Jo/Odom/Granger froncourt if we ended up with Odom. At the very least, we wouldn't get outrebounded very often.

Please don't take it to mean a deal in next couple days (although it could be) only that Donnie is finally lining up firm options. Hopefully he will make a quick decision Larry likes Odom but I fear a Derrick McKey in Odom ( leaves you wanting more) . After watching again tonight it appears Jermaine is now playing more and more center. Guess Odom could play pf in the east , with Danny at sf.

Will, Odom is definitely not a 2. He can play 3, but he's at his best at 4.

Artest & Jackson for Odom & Walton works on REAL GM but I wouldn't see the Lakers wanting both of them when they have Kobe. The more likley player they would want added is Tinsley, unless there is 3rd team involved, then ..... who knows?

Odom's contract is a killer too, 11.5 this season, going up about 1M for 3 more years. How is that going to work into Walsh looking for more flexability with the payroll?

And yes, Kobe wants Artest, as does Phil Jackson.

Odom has been rumored to be able to play all 4 non-center spots.... I think he would be a good SF for us and adds yet another good passer to the lineup... I like this...

If DW is not sold on Odom as a player (or his big contract), then what kind of players could we get for Odom in a three team trade? Certainly better than trying to trade Artest straight up right now, or trying to swing a three team deal involving Denver's cast-offs...

Purely guessing I think LA would want Foster with Artest more than Jackson. My guess is if Donnie gets Odom - he will move at least 1 player with a multi year deal that runs longer than 2 years .

Fact Odom has been offered must mean Donnie let the Lakers know there is an offer he likes from somewhere else. Not sure if Donnie is bluffing or if he is calling other teams to ante up in hopes off getting best offers immediately.

May still be a few days away from a complete deal but with Donnie Walsh , you never know could still end up with a deal out of nowhere. His going dark in offices means something tho.

Does Pollard's non appearance this evening factor into this latest trade scenario?

That would make a lot of sense. I mean, it'd be odd that David suddenly moved past Polly in the "guard the huge guys" department.

Wow. I know you all are most interested in direct implications for the Pacers. But Kobe + Artest sounds a whole lot like Jordan + Pippen. If this deal goes through and if Ron behaves it could shift the balance of power in the West. And it's probably a worst case scenario for Dallas.

DD what do you think him not saying anything to anyone in offices might mean?

Lamar Odom would sure be nice in a Indy uni.

In the past when Donnie does that it usually signals a deal is close and he wants nothing leaking out. Look at all the internet rumors of late , its not unusual for Donnie to float bull rumors to spark responce.

With Larry now having a bigger role it could be something different with Texas trip and holidays , who knows. But my guess and its just that a guess I'd say something will happen within next 3-5 days.

I was thinking about this....but if I had a choice between Odom and Harrington...and believe me...I don't really want either of them...I woudl go for Odom. They both contribute about the same....both are PF/SF.....but Odom is locked into a contract a little longer then Harrington.

I don't want some team to outbid the Pacers next season for him...and as a result see nothing come out of trading Artest.
