IDK, Toronto's 1st would be nice. Could easily be Adam Morrison or Rudy Gay, both potential NBA superstars. We'd suck this year, probably struggle to make the playoffs, so I'd like to see us keep our own 1st since it would be decent. Basically this deal is throwing away this season (2 in a row thats been wasted, woohoo!) for our long term future. It's worth considering but I dont think managment or most fans would go for it.
Not that I endorse it as a great deal or anything, but I cannot believe how bad this trade has been blasted. Let's take a look at what we get...
MoPete and Eric Williams - solid, but definitely unspectacular vets
Matt Bonner - great energy player, rebounder, outside shot, too
Pape Sow - isn't this guy leading the d-league in scoring? not a remarkable accomplishment, but still, a decent project
Lottery pick - wouldn't be the #1 with the talent that Toronot would be getting, but still an improvement over our own
What we're giving up...
Artest - not going to play another game for the Pacers, ever
Jackson - questions about loyalty, place on team... Indy played better with him out of the lineup vs. NY than with him in it
Harrison - only getting DNP-CDs right now
First round pick - definitely later in the draft
This isn't an earth-shattering deal, but it would not be the doomsday that this thread predicts!
I don't know that we need a 'star' back in this trade. JO will get his shots, and I don't mind the rest being spread around between Tinsley, Saras, Granger, Croshere with Freddie and Bonner in the second unit...
I know you want to clean shop but this isn't in our best interest.
I figure Jax and Harrison can be traded at another time and i
am willing let things pan out. You never who may come avaliable later
