Bringing AL back makes a lot of sense and then it doesn't make much sense at the same time. I agree w/ those who say he wouldn't fit with our starters, at least partially. I'm kind of mixed right now, although at the very least he is a great talent to get back for Artest, and there's nothing better for chemistry than trading the league's worst cancer for Jermaine's good friend.

I guess I will just trust Donnie if he chooses to bring him back, and hopefully he'd fit in well.

Either we're not getting the prospects we want, or Donnie is trying to make up for JO having to put up with Ron all this time.

I'm terrified Al would pull a Dale on us this summer. If we could get a Josh Childress along with him, that's fine. And if it was just losing an expiring contract, that'd be one thing. But I don't think we fans could handle another rejection from a beloved former Pacer.
Do you really think that would happen? Donnie would know Al would stay because JO has already told him so, they talk everyday.

I just hope Donnie and Rick keep in mind how well Austin is playing, will Al coming back cut into Austin's minutes?

I don't really care for having Al back, and I didn't like him too much while he was here.

And when he left the team was not the same, as you now see he had a lot of positives.

Conrad Brunner said on the Pacers radio pregame show tonight, that today the trade talks had really cooled down, as it appears talks are now only with a few teams, but there is a lot less talk. Brunner said he thinks that means a deal is getting close.

OK, just once: Bringing Al back means:

    1. re-adding The Black Hole I to the team,
    2. We already have TheBlacholeII on the team (Jax= TBH2)
    3. Al wants his payday at the end of the season (FA) Pacers will not be able, nor would they want to, make Al an offer he would accept, forget being friends with JO, JO is not giving him part of his salary and DW is not going to give Al more then he gets now,
    4. Al stated he is looking for a better deal then he has
    5. Atl is desperate enough to give him just that
    6. Al does not want to come of the bench
    7. Al is not a SF
    8. Did I mention he's a Black Hole (#I)

    there ya have it

I'm thinking that we only need him here for one year while Danny develops. Danny will get enough minutes this year since he can play so many different positions. If we do this trade, we only have to have Al here for a year, and just plug in Danny next year.

Pollard's contract expires after this season. If Bender isn't traded and retires, his contract doesn't count against the cap. How would the Pacers not have enough to offer Al?

So you want a 3/4 of a year rental for Ron? We can do much better than that...

that plus (AwHeck) Al is thinking near the 10 million starting, he makes 7 this year, he wants a multi year "payday", Atl probalby is willing to do something like that, I don't think he's worth that kind of money and personally think that starting him at 7 is already a reach.
I also happen to think that the consideration that Al would be a FA this year was a helpline for DW in allowing him that trade.
Finally Al does not want to come of the bench, he wants to be the "JO" of any organization he plays for, not Tonto.

This year few and far between that he doesn't get more then 1

and yes, he plays PF, we have one, in fact we have a PF that is considered one of the 3 best in the league, why would we want another one who thinks he is that good?
Is one player with such feelings on a team no enough?

If you think jax is in love with his shot and himself, play close attention to how Al plays.

I'm with you. Once the ball touched Al's hands, that was it. Into the black hole it went. You and I would discuss this quite a bit, if I remember correctly. Has he changed? I'm not foolish enough to believe that. Didn't think so with Ron, don't think so with Al.

Continuing with my box score theme, anybody think Denver's doing the hard sell with Watson? Out of nowhere, he plays 38 minutes and gets 18, 7, and 4 steals.

We could do a LOT worse than Al Harrington for Ron Artest given the situation. And Al is if nothing else a great locker room presence, and the more of that we have right now, the better.

On the court, we know his strengths, we know his weaknesses, and I for one will take his strengths despite the weaknesses.

    We can start these 5:

    Tinsley/AJ
    Sarunas/Fred
    Jackson/Granger
    Harrington/Croshere
    O'Neal/Foster

    Anyone see this?

Pacers president Donnie Walsh is "encouraged" by the quality of the offers he has received for Ron Artest, including what he said were at least two proposals involving All-Star caliber players.

Sorry if this is old news.
