    Default Battier = DNP-CD

Was Battier hurt or sick tonight? Did he get banged up in the recent Pacer game? Could it be something is brewing with Memphis for Battier after all. I doubt it but if Battier was not sick or hurt, it's strange he gets a DNP.

Interesting timing. He just played their last game on Saturday. His stats look great. 48% 3pt, 54%fg%, good defender.

...oh, and I bet he has a bit more class than Artest. ...and he is likely to improve as a player. He has improved significantly since entering the league.

    Successful Scenario
There were BYC players involved in this trade, so this trade is subject to the BYC provisions of the CBA. Due to Indiana and Memphis being over the cap, the 25% trade rule is invoked. Indiana and Memphis had to be no more than 125% plus $100,000 of the salary given out unless trade exceptions were used for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Being a Duke fan I would love to have Battier here. He is a tremendous all around defender/ hustle energy guy. He also continues to improve his offensive game every season like he did while he was at Duke. He's one of those guys that does all the little things you don't see on the stat sheet and he's a winner

I can't stand Duke but I really like Battier. He plays so smart, does everything well and would be an awesome for team chemistry. He's all about the team.

Might mean nothing, could mean he's our man. I like Battier, he is a solid player, was hoping to get a little more talent. Character wise it would be hard to find anyone better.

I thought the same thing....cuz when I looked at the box score....guess who else was a DNP-CD? Stoudamire......and I can't find any explanation as to why he did not play.....hmmm....the speculations continue.

    Okay...I will dream a little:

    Stoudamire+Battier+Cardinal

    for

    Artest+Tinsley+Freddie

I really liked my Battier trade... I think it was Ron/AJ/Pollard for Battier/B.Jax/Wright. I'd include an unprotected first to get that done.

    I really like Battier.
Welcome to Pacers Digest! New around here? Here are three tips for making the forum a great place to talk about Pacers basketball.

    • Log in. Even if you want to read instead of post, it's helpful because it lets you:
    • Change your signature options. You can hide all signatures by choosing "Settings" (top right) then "General Settings" (middle left) and unchecking the box "Show Signatures" (in the "Thread Display Options" area).
    • Create an ignore list. I know it may seem unneighborly. But you're here to talk about the Pacers, not argue with someone who's just looking for an argument. Most of the regular users on here make use (at least occasionally) of the "Ignore" feature. Just go to "Settings" -> "Edit Ignore List" and add the names.

    Enjoy your time at PD!

I'm hoping, wishing, and praying that a deal for Battier goes down today.

Hold the phone! I just remembed that Stoudamire signed in the offseason and today is the first day he's available for trade. Maybe he is included in the deal.

I could see Artest and Tinsley going to Memphis for Damon, Battier, and Jake Tsakalidis + a future 1st round pick.

Larry is not coming back, he didn't have a meeting with Orlando for not reason, yeah he is coming back to the NBA but not to the Pacers, the notion that he is a taking a year off and then come back is absurd.

Stoudamire started, played 32 minutes and scored 4 points along with 4 rebounds and 7 assists.

Bobby Jackson did not play -- he has been out with a pulled hamstring.

Shane Battier not playing is slightly suspect... both for many of the reasons above, and because he was such a late scratch. He was not on their pre-game injury report, and was listed both on their website, and media game notes as a probable starter.

Yes, the combination and the odds of both of those (Battier and Stoudamire) sitting out is very interesting. I am having a tough time waiting for the news....

Damon did play, it was Bobby Jackson that was out.

This is from today's Memphis paper:

Mostly circuitous concerning Brian Cardinal's knee surgery and astonishingly long rehabilitation, the Grizzlies activated the 6-8 forward Wednesday as they were forced to sit Shane Battier because of a hand injury.

Battier has been durable for the Grizzlies.

But he was injured during an incident at Monday's practice. The Griz contend they didn't know the extent of Battier's injury until late Tuesday.

Battier's right index finger is jammed into the knuckle, according to Griz coach Mike Fratello.

"There's a lot of swelling in the hand," Fratello said. "He's unable to shoot the ball."

I think shane's personality would fit perfectly with what kind of team we have here, BUT, his skills remind me of a ron mercer caliber player on steroids. JMO.
