Default Rick Bucher(NBA Fastbreak) Walsh to look for young talent, potential star(s).

Rick Bucher was saying on NBA Fastbreak this morning, he talked to Donnie Walsh yesterday.

Of course Walsh realizes he is not going to get equal talent for Ron.
Although the rumors persist of a Peja for Ron type deal.
Walsh indicated to him more than likely that would not be the case.
Instead he will be looking for someone who will be a star in a few years, a young talent in the league.

Of course he used the comparison of Davis for JO type situation. Proven Veteran for young potential talent.

    Why Not Us ?

I'd much rather have Odom. We should be looking to win NOW.

    AND HOW!

    Seriously, Odom all the way.

I say Odom or nothing. There is too much upside for both teams. Lakers get an enforcer for Kobe and someone to take some of the offensive load of Kobe. Pacers get a consistent player that can pass, rebound, and defend. Odom would fit in this system right away. Plus he is a quality veteran that can teach our young guys how to play, he could mentor Granger. Peja is nice, but I would only do that if the Lakers aren't interested. If the Lakers are interested we need to make it work.

I just think a tandem of Odom and Oneal would look really nice.

would that match the type of deal Donnie is looking for?
Well that does make sense at least for the Wizards, I have heard they are not as happy as they could be with Butler.

However Butler has that Poison Pill Provision where basically you have to match not the current salary but the average of all the years left on the contract

I'd make that deal if the Odom one doesn't work out. For sure. I've always liked Caron.

I'd do that deal too. Probably take that over *** for Odom straight up....I like the way Caron Butler plays, and Jared would do fine...

By the way, one other advantage to doing the deal with the Wiz, is that Ron gets to be closer to VA and btown!!!!

The Post today was nutting itself over the thought of stealing away one of the best players in the league. Their thought was that Ron will change when he gets out of Indiana, Eddie Jordan could work with him, he'd focus only on basketball and bring the Wizards a title for cheap, he'd be a good influence on the younger players, he's a good vetern role model to have around in the future, and on and on and on. It was like Unclebuck wrote the article last year.

I laughed out loud and died a little on the inside.
    At this point
I would do that trade, matches with what Walsh indicated as well.
To guys been in the league just a few year each.
If the Pacers feel that they already have their starters on the team now
Then two is better than one..

    Why Not Us ?

I'd happily take Caron Butler and Jared Jeffries for Ron... they are both really talented players.

That's it. You're not getting a Christmas card this year.
    It's worth it!

I have a feeling if that trade works out, you'll be the one getting cards, but they will be sympathy cards for having the freakshow move to your town.

Sorry Btown, I wouldn't wish that on anyone....but what are we gonna do, send him out to the Lakers so that LA and Harm have to deal with it?!

Arenas, Artest, and Jamison - 3 All-Stars on 1 team. Not a good idea for the Pacers are Washington would porbably leap frog them in the standings. But then again, that team would probably be better than Detroit, so it could be done out of spite which Im all for. I <3 spite.

Please no Caron Butler, young talent is the way to go. I liked the Webster idea, but I think the Blazers wouldn't do it, just so they aren't shamed in another JO/DD type trade.
You, Never? Did the Kenosha Kid?

I think history tells us that DW always looks for young players who are ready to break out.

There is a long list of these type of player

    Detlef
    J.O.
    Artest
    Brad Miller
