Thread: Trade Ron, But For What?

  1. #1

Default Trade Ron, But For What?

What do we really need on this team? Assuming Jackson takes on the 3 spot, and it seems like Sarunas and AJ on the floor at the same time has been working well, what exactly do we need on this team? We have 4 centers, 2/3 good PF's, 2 good SF's, 1 good shooting guard and 1 decent shooting guard, and 3 good point guards...I really don't know what we need, can we trade him for draft picks?

Yes, we have good palyer but not great players. Thats what we need a second star behind o'neal.

you guys warming up to the Peja trade?

I think we have that 2nd star, Stephen Jackson, the past 2 games, he has shown that he needs to be the 2nd option. We need just a role player. We have to throw someone in to make salaries match with Peja, who do we throw in? Definetly not Croshere, maybe Pollard?

Ron for Al is starting to sound pretty good to me, if we can't net Odom. Assuming, of course, that Al would want to return.

Right I think Al would work...

Now to be clear Jax will never be an All-star, he is sometimes a good 2nd or 3rd option but he is not the kind of guy you can count on to carry a team say if JO misses a game or two. Which is what a star would be expected to do,

    Why Not Us ?

Why would the Hawks want Artest. They have a very young and terrible team. That is not a good situation for Ron

I agree with you I doubt we will be able to get even Al for him now.

Atlanta has 57 swingmen. They're not about to trade one of their big men (and a pseudo one, at that), for yet another one.

However, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to see a three-team trade with Atlanta involved.

I don't know about you guys, but I much rather the Pacers go after Peja Stojakovic than Al Harrington.

You would do well to go look at Al's stats during the time that Jermaine was out with injuries.

    The good news:

I think we'll all be happy no matter who we get back for Ron-Ron :-)

I say we banish Artest to Canada so he can completely lose his mind there. Package him with probably Jackson, Harrison and/or Tinsley and maybe we could snag Chris Bosh, Mo Pete and Mike James in return. Why would the Raptors do it? I don't know, but a franchise that would draft Araujo that high might just bite.

ok guys - right now we are all a tad bit vulnerable because of Ron dumping us. And we are SETTLING for Al Harrington.

PLEASE NO! Did you forget how Al the blackhole used to hog the ball till about 2 secs left on the clock. Al is jsut not that good. Peja has lot more skills than Al, not even close.

ESPN 950 just mentioned K-Mart and Watson for a package including Artest ... sounds whacko to me. They need MORE not less power up front and Karl and Artest? I don't think so. Don't they also have this Carmelo kid, word he's not that bad either. IOW BS message to me, but who knows.

Bad idea for both sides. It would FORCE JO to play center, because KMart wont come off the bench. Earl watson=4th PG? TInsley would have to go in this deal too.

On one end, it would make the Pacers a very good frontline. However, they'd be undersized and injury-prone at both spots.

Denver: Carmello and Ron? who plays SG? Bad idea there too.

Here's the type of trade they can expect (all of these trades work under the CBA too):

    1. Artest/Gill to Dallas for Jerry Stackhouse + future 1st rounder.

    2. Ron Artest/Pollard to NY for Antonio Davis

    3. Artest/Tinsley to Toronto for Mo Peterson/Mike James/Eric Williams

    4. Artest/Gill to Sacramento for Bonzi Wells + draft pick (probably 2nd rounder)

5.Artest to New Orleans for PJ Brown + draft pick.

    6. Artest to Portland for Darius Miles straight up.

These are the most realistic trade ideas I could come up with especially with Artest ruining much of this trade value.

My favorite is Darius Miles because he's having a breakout season and in the past mentioned that he would love to play for Indiana (when he was with Cleveland). His numbers are close to what Artest brings, he's young, and I think he would fit in well with the Pacers.

Larry is not coming back, he didn't have a meeting with Orlando for not reason, yeah he is coming back to the NBA but not to the Pacers, the notion that he is a taking a year off and then come back is absurd.

Plus, he's out for a number of months with a knee injury, so Tinsley would have a new BFF on the sidelines.
Don't you know ? Some think Stephen is a great 2nd option on offense and we didn't need Ron at all, so why would we miss his replacement?
