Default Cowherd on Artest - 11/3

Wow, anyone listening to Colin Cowherd on ESPN radio this morning? The guy sounds like a huge fan. Artest would improve any team, other players hate to play against him, we should all be cheering the guy.

Nothing new, just a lot of enthusiasm.

He did say his teammates LOVE him. Is that true? I always thought there was an uneasy truce and respect between them all. I know there has been some off the court tension, but do the other guys LOVE playing with RON? What do you think?

Has this already been run into the ground in the last 10 months?
"If you ever crawl inside an old hollow log and go to sleep, and while you're in there some guys come and seal up both ends and then put it on a truck and take it to another city, boy, I don't know what to tell you." - Jack Handy

I heard it. This part was my favorite (paraphrasing):

"If you're one of those guys that hates the NBA because the players don't play hard and take games off, then you can't say you don't like Ron Artest. I'd take 12 Ron Artests on my team. If I took my kid to a game, I'd point to Ron Artest and say play like that. If I could pick 5 guys to win a championship, Ron Artest would be my 3rd pick. Tim Duncan, Lebron, Ron Artest, Dwayne Wade, .....(long pause).... and Smush Parker"

    Patrick....SOOOoooo Whiney! No there's a guy I can't stand to listen to.

Cowherd is good, although once in a while he drifts into Jerry Seinfeld mode where you get the feeling he wishing he was a stand-up comedian.

It's nice to know somebody likes Cowherd. Give me TK any day.

I much preferred Tony K. too, but I did hear Cowherd today doing the Artest bit with callers. I enjoyed it.

Cowherd is great, he always seems to send praises towards the Pacers and Colts.

My favorite part was after he was saying that he'd want his kid to be like Artest on the court (but not off it), and that Artest is the kind of guy that people don't like, but if he got moved to their team, they'd love him. A guy called in and said (not verbatim), "What Artest does on the court is punches players, he punches fans, I can't believe you're defending this guy-"

    Cowherd: "Who's your favorite team?"
    Caller: "The Spurs."
Cowherd: "Bruce Bowen is known as a cheap shot artist, do you like Bowen?"
Caller: "Bruce Bown is a great defensive player-"
Cowherd: "But Ron Artest is a thug, gimme a break."

Completely dismissed the guy, it was pretty funny.

I gave the guy a listen when he first came in for the leaving TK (who can be streamed daily in case you aren't aware) and he bagged on basketball all the time. He might have boned up on his knowledge but last I heard him (and I listened for about a month before never turning ESPN Radio on again) his NBA "knowledge" was laughable, his opinions were incredibly "anti-eastern-bias (he talked about the "eastern bias" EVERY DAY) and his "talk" about the NBA was limited to "Shaq is great and other than that, the NBA might as well be the NHL". I do seem to remember him being high on the Pacers though so if you just want pumping up, I can see listening to the guy.

ESPN is the toilet of radio, IMO.

I can't stand Cowherd. I'd almost rather listen to Jim Rome.

I would much rather hear Mr. Tony, but I can't stream audio at work.
The new guy isn't nearly as good, but it provides good background noise and I occasionally actually listen. And yes, he usually trashes the NBA product.

He's always been able to score, he just can't run an offense. Since the Lakers aren't asking him to, he should be able to over-produce compared to his past. He's basically playing the role of a second sg playing at the 1 and thats a role that should really suit him.
