    Default Draft Day 2005

    & its about time!

There is a chance I'll be able to start the draft late this afternoon.

The company I work for is closed for inventory & the afternoons are usually real slow on those days.

If you happen to be on the league site when the draft starts you will not be able to access the draft board. You'll need to log out, then log back in, you'll then be able to access everything as normal.

    Thanks

When do we know the draft order? And when can we start ranking our draftees?

The order will not be known until the draft starts, that is also when you'll be able to log in & set your contengency list.

I won't be around at all tomorrow, so I'll have to set up my contingency list today.

First time EVER I have gotten a high draft pick ... and I almost got screwed by me, I guess, because my wireless network mailfunctioned this afternoon , so I had to drive to a friend to get a spare network cable, seems to be working now .

Hopefully Shade can get on long enough to throw up a contingency list as I know he's not going to be around tomorrow.
"It's just unfortunate that we've been penalized so much this year and nothing has happened to the Pistons, the Palace or the city of Detroit," he said. "It's almost like it's always our fault. The league knows it. They should be ashamed of themselves to let the security be as lax as it is around here."

I doubt he will be on tonight.

I just sent him a PM in the hope that he checks in before leaving tomorrow.

Pick now. Regret later. If my top pick gets injured or suspended AGAIN this season(damn you Artest!) I will play Neil Diamond songs so loud that the cops will show

It was set up this way because so many people were not able to devote 7 straight hours of their life to drafting.

I'll run it like this until about the middle of the week. Then, if we need to I'll change the clock.

As a last resort we can change the clock to 15 minutes next Saturday & finish off whatever rounds are left.

You realize most of this week I'll be gone for HOURS at a time, right? My limit to make my pics is going to be gone in a short while if that's the case...

I mean, I can try to check in during my classes, but nothing solid.

That's where the contingency list comes in. Fill it up and "magic" you'll get the player on top of your list when the time comes.

I know, but plans can change in an instance with the draft. For instance, what happened to me last year when I had to leave for an hour. When I left the draft was a snail. So I left a list of Gs I might want next. I come home, suddenly I've drafted 3 of them. Totally gone was my chance get another solid F or C.

Do you have the "add advanced contingency options" on your draft page? You can set up some additional logic about who to pick.

I've never tried it, so I have no idea if it works or not.

Hey, I think I was about the only one NOT liking the 24-hour rule, so why bring it up now? Anyway, maybe not a bad idea to shift to the 15, 30 or 60 minutes part on this coming sunday ... when most people should be free. I hate contingency lists, because as Hicks pointed out ... things change (that's how I live my life ) instantly with the draft.

This is taking way too long.

I agree - contingencies suck. I rarely, if ever use them. But since I don't, I make a habit of constantly checking into the site.

    Brutal!

Yup! Same here. Little obsessive, I know, but atleast I can make split-second decisions and changes should I feel it necessarily to do so.
