The Tennessee Titans lost their insurance policy in the offensive backfield when the NFL suspended running back Travis Henry for four weeks Monday for violating the league's substance abuse policy.
The suspension without pay, which began immediately, gives the Titans salary cap relief to find a replacement.
Coach Jeff Fisher said the Titans likely will make a roster move because the suspension leaves them with only Chris Brown, rookie Damien Nash, a fifth-round draft pick out of Missouri deactivated for the first three games, and fullback Troy Fleming on the roster.
The Titans (1-2) host AFC South rival Indianapolis (3-0) on Sunday, and Henry won't be back until Oct. 24.
An option is promoting Jarrett Payton, the son of the late Walter Payton, from the practice squad. Another is Eddie George, Tennessee's all-time leading rusher, who is available after spending last season with the Dallas Cowboys. He worked the television broadcasts for the Titans' preseason games.

    Patriots get clock help

A clock error added 52 seconds to the fourth quarter of the Patriots-Steelers game Sunday. The extra time aided the Patriots during a winning drive that ended with Adam Vinatieri's 43-yard field goal with 1 second remaining. The Patriots won 23-20.
The NFL acknowledged the mistake Monday, with director of officiating Mike Pereira issuing a statement: "The on-field officiating crew, which oversees the official game clock operated in the press box, failed to recognize that the clock was improperly reset."
The mistake occurred after the second play of the fourth quarter, a reverse by Steelers wide receiver Cedrick Wilson for no gain on second-and-10 from the Pittsburgh 30 with the Steelers ahead 13-10.
There were 14 minutes, 51 seconds remaining when the play started. After the reverse, a false start penalty was called on the next play on Steelers guard Kendall Simmons. At that point, the Heinz Field clock had run down to 13:59.
But before the next play started, the clock reverted to 14:51 -- the time left before the Wilson run.
    Henderson accused

A former live-in girlfriend of Jaguars defensive tackle John Henderson told police that he kicked in her front door earlier this month and threw her around the apartment when she refused to have sex.
Valerie Denise Jones, 26, said Henderson came to her Jacksonville, Fla., apartment early Sept. 16 after she didn't take his calls, according to a police report.
There was no warrant for Henderson's arrest, and the state attorney's office had not yet determined whether to file charges.

    2 Vikings arrested

Vikings offensive linemen Bryant McKinnie and rookie Marcus Johnson were arrested in connection with a scuffle at a gas station early Monday.
McKinnie and Johnson were scheduled to appear in court Oct. 3. Coach Mike Tice said he was told there wasn't a fight and that the players didn't do anything wrong.
"Once the story comes out, I don't think any of us will be disappointed," Tice said.

No way they bring back Eddie George.

Wouldn't that be a slap in the face (to George)?
