    Default Curious....

Lets subtract Dale Davis from the 2000 Pacer team and add the current 20-10 JO. Do you think the Pacers would beat the Lakers or that they wouldnt even make it to the NBA finals.... How bout doing the same thing for the 1998/9 Pacer team?

I don't think a front line of Rik and J.O would be very effective especially with Jalen at small forward

Those twenty points - especially at JO's dismal short-range percentage - means a lot fewer touches for Smits, Reggie and Jalen. Dale fit the team perfectly, Jermaine, even at his current prime, would require a complete restructuring of how that team played.

The coaching staff was smart enough back then that they would have come up with a good system and playbook with JO in the lineup, but I don't think we would have made it past the first round considering just how much Dale's presence would have been missed.

Think of all the screens, the muscle, the defense. The team in my eyes would have been worse with JO.

That would have been a very good lineup. I think we would have won it.

That wouldn't work. Who would rebound? Rik wasn't a very good rebounder, and neither is Jermaine. Plus if they feed Jermaine in the post non-stop, it would never comeback out, making the Reggie offense useless. Then there would be a lack of interior defense. Wouldn't work, Dale was perfect for that team.

Are you kidding me?!?!?! JO is a great rebounder. Hints the 20-10 description.

As stated above, it wouldn't work because there would have been too many offensive weapons and no real grunt. I think this is the problem Miami may have this season.

I could agree with that but the "JO isn't a good rebounder" remark threw me off.

Damn.... I have to say the B word....
Replace Bender with JO in 2000 and you may have something. Replacing Dale with JO in 2000 and we aren't playing in the finals.

Yep. As UB stated, pair JO with Jalen and Rik, not to mention Jax and Reggie in the backcourt, . Jermaine's a superb weak-side man, but weak-side does you no damn good when you don't have strong-side.

Wow, Dale was one of my favorite Pacers too....but wow.

I think JO would've worked fine with Rik... Similar to he and Brad.

    Put in Artest instead.
Don't ask Marvin Harrison what he did during the bye week. "Batman never told where the Bat Cave is," he explained.

He's a numbers type rebounder rather than a tough rebounder. It's easy enough to nab those missed free throw rebounds, but when he has to out-muscle someone for a rebound, he doesn't do that to the extent that he should.
"It's just unfortunate that we've been penalized so much this year and nothing has happened to the Pistons, the Palace or the city of Detroit," he said. "It's almost like it's always our fault. The league knows it. They should be ashamed of themselves to let the security be as lax as it is around here."

    true---

Rik (then), JO (now), Artest (now), Reggie (then) , Mark J (then) win it, IMO.

add today's bench and I'm sure

That's a damn perceptive description of Jo's rebounding.
Hey! What're you kicking me for? You want me to ask? All right, I'll ask! Ma'am, where do the high school girls hang out in this town?
