Default This off the Star's Pacer board.

    http://www2.indystar.com/forums/showthread.php?t=115137

I hope this isn't constituted as spam, but if it is, you mods may delete it but I believe this is an opportunity many Pacers fans would like a chance to hear.

I'm looking for a person who can cover the Pacers and write features, editorials, game recaps. The beat writer would be credentialed with a press pass and can attend all home games for free. The writer will sit with the other journalists during games and is expected to interview coaches, players, personnel. This is not a paid position and we cannot provide compensation for expenses. The writer is to provide their own transportation to and from games. The beat writer is expected to attend Media Day as well.

    Some requirements :
at least 19 years or older
    Experience is a plus.
Journalism majors in college is preferred but not necessary
Excellent writing skills (samples are required)
    Good communication skills
    Dedication

    Thank you for your time.

please contact me at changkoh@sbcglobal.net to inquire about the position. Please only serious inquires!! You guys can ask questions in this thread and I will check it and try to answer you questions.

Naptown Seth - where are you studying English? U of I, Butler, some other place?

I am hoping to study English and Psychology next year at one of those colleges, I'd love to hear any insight you have about the program you're in....

Sounds like Peck would be perfect! Then we can all enjoy his success by using his season ticket that he won't need but will want to keep.

While a Pacer fan certainly wouldn't be impartial, it would be nice to have somebody who actually wanted to be there. We had a good view of the press row off section 20, and most of them looked like they were forced to sit through a 3-hour lecture on micro and macro tendencies of third-world developing economies. And that's with a little tv they could turn to whatever, as well.

This is why this 19 year old college student, who is a media student, and has several quality examples of journalism will not be responding.

And they want good writing skills. You can start by changing your post to say, "I'm too young."

Assuming Pacemates are included among "personnel", some of you young guys ought to hop on this.

I would, but I don't want to be perceived as a 53-year-old horny old man...

    Oh, wait.....

    Will -

Have you considered offering this as an "unpaid internship" with local colleges? That might get you somewhere, since it would probably culminate in a nice letter-of-reference for an aspiring sportswriter.

In a way, this really is a paid position. Tickets down that low to the floor run at something like 135-150 a game. That figures to $5000 or so for the season. It is also an excellent opportunity to make some decent contacts for an aspiring sportswriter.

Just trying to help you out a little by encouraging Diamond Dave to reconsider.

Part of the press row is right above where the Pacemates hang out. I don't know how close you'll be able to get to them since they're guarded by Ruth Riley's cousin (yet another reference that only Kegboy and I will understand).

Heh, I was thinking the same thing, but don't see anything over there. Which is kind of ironic, since the MB post originated from a post over there to begin with.

I'm sure one of our many "admirers" over there will eventually bring this info to their attention. =/

I saw that but I felt a multiple choice question would be appropriate.
