Thread: Internet IM Language

    Default Internet IM Language

Ok, I'm sorry in advance if this offends anybody but.......

I absolutely cannot stand IM language anymore!!!!!!!!!! Sorry if you use it, but it annoys me.

Half the time I read emails or postings of whatever and I see about 50 'U's' (you). 'prolly' (probably) and other annoying words and characters that make me want to scream!!!!!Is it so hard to spell out the word 'you'???

I'm sorry, but I think that messages are more sincere if you spell out words. Now, there are acceptions like LMAO or IMO or IMHO, and LOL (use this sparingly!!), but that's about it.Half the reason this makes me mad is because people now talk like that LOL,GTG,and the worst ever Kewl...uggh (shudder!!)

I know that this is probably an irrelevant rant, but hey this is the shout box, so...................

    Now it is.
Why do the things that we treasure most, slip away in time
Till to the music we grow deaf, to God's beauty blind
Why do the things that connect us slowly pull us apart?
Till we fall away in our own darkness, a stranger to our own hearts
And life itself, rushing over me
Life itself, the wind in black elms,
Life itself in your heart and in your eyes, I can't make it without you

I don't find near as annoying as you do, but when I chat online with my friends I always try and use perfect grammar. I just kept doin it till it became a habit.

But, b-town, that was a hilarious post.

Nuntius was right. I was wrong. Frank Vogel has retained his job.

This reminds me of that episode of Late Night with Conan O' Brien, where Conan is talking with God and God just says the first letter of each word instead of the whole word. Funny stuff.

You should read the "letter to TO" thread in the Colts forum. It's pretty good.

Does anyone else actually sound out the abbreviations phonetically?

When I see "ROFL" my mind actually says "row-full." "lol" sounds like the beginning of "lollipop." And so on.

I'm pretty sure that's why I think people who write in abbrviations are idiots. If someone walked up to me on the street and said "Ohemguh row-full loll I'm hoe not rilly!" I'd look for the best route to run away from the crazy-talk man.
