    I would think so.

He'll probably make it, too, since that game is all flash. They will need someone to throw the alley-oops.

He's never been on an NBA roster. He's a rookie.

Fat, slow and almost invalid Arvydas Sabonis at the age of 31 particpated in Schick Rookie Game in 96. He managed 8points, 4 rebounds in 4 minutes.

He also came second in R.O.Y. and 6th man that season.

Season stats: 23.8 mpg 14.5 ppg 8.1 rpg
Playoff stats: 35.4 mpg 23.6 ppg 10.2 rpg

The oldiest rookie ever. Saras will take the second place in this category.

If Sabonis had come in to the league at a younger age he would be easily considered the best European ever to play the game.

Not bad for "almost (an) invalid"

Nuntius was right. I was wrong. Frank Vogel has retained his job.

    Sabonis had awesome skills.

Unfortunately, a few years into playing in the NBA, he was getting old.

Zeljiko Rebraca played in the rookie game at age 29.

EDIT: and don't call Sabonis an "invalid" again. The man is a god in basketball lore.

Right... I remember that. He was the guy you pegged as "awesome talent for which the Pacers will have no match" before Darko... I mean Okur...

I've always loved watching you hype your third string players. Especially when they never pan out.

Uh, Rebraca panned out pretty darn well for a 29-year old rookie. His heart problems aside, I'm very happy about what Zelly gave us.

He also had a knack for beating up on the Pacers he REALLY owned brad miller back in the day.

He also played pretty damn well for the Clippers this year. Rebraca has done pretty well for himself in the NBA at his age.

As for Okur, had we not gotten Sheed, I think that he would have been developing into a star here. He isn't getting pub in Utah because they sucked, but he put up solid numbers.

In the end, I think I was right about both Rebraca and Okur.

As for Darko, jury's still out.

Finally, something to disagree with you on. Considering how bad that team was, the fact he only put up 12 and 7 isn't terribly encouraging, IMO.

12 and 7 off the bench is pretty damn good.

Sarunas won't be the oldest rookie this season. Fabricio Oberto is 30.

Well, Brad used to play ok vs Ben, but whenever Zelly checked in, he'd throw Brad around like a rag doll. I never understood it, but it happened a lot.

Two years ago, I believe it was Rebraca's last game in Detroit, Miller got fed up with him and elbowed Rebraca a few times. Zelly proceeded to punch Brad like 2 or 3 times. A couple days later, Zelly got traded to Atlanta I believe.

He was still playing off the bench, which, considering how many injuries they had, is not good.

hey, that's on the coach. Okur was putting up fine numbers when sloan allowed him to play.

Okur also had two game-winning shots against the spurs last year.

Okur just got owned last night in an international game between Israel & Turkey. Yaniv Green (played on your beloved Piston's summer league team last year) pushed him around like the little 10-year old girl he is. Israel won 82-71.

BTW, Zeljico Rebraca was a wimp in Europe before he bacame a wimp in the NBA. Yeah he had ok numbers, but he was never dominant and was always a crybaby. Never did understand how he made it to the NBA...

I hated playing New Jersey because of that guy!!!! He was a talented player. Didn't he die on the Autobahn?
