I completely forgot about that George McGinniss signing this past Saturday. Really wish I could've gotten my rookie card signed. Hopefully he does another signing sometime in the near future, that's close to where I live.

Hahaha! My mom found this old picture of me and my Pacers collection at a very young age.

I wish I still had those posters and the pennants and the sweet Jalen Rose replica Champion jersey (even though it was a Nuggets jersey)

Hey guys I was just wondering if any of you guys have ever collected the 2000-2001 Gold Label Finals Jersey cards?

I have recently been trying to put together the set, and have found that they are very difficult to find.

I have only purchased two thus far for about 5 dollars a piece. (Zan Tabak and Bender). I see that there is an ebay auction for the reggie right now, but it looks as if it will sell for quite a bit. I can find no real idea of what these things are going for now.

If any of you can share what you've paid/ or think they are worth I'd appreciate it.

I see that there is also a dale davis for $20 obo on ebay.

The set goes for different prices at times depending on how long it has been since the last showed up and if two of them are posted around the same time. The Reggie will be without a doubt the most expensive (I think I'm now only missing Reggie and Rose). Good luck with the set - if you can continue to grab them for about $5 each I would say to go for it.

I'll vouch for what Deadshot said. I've got 7 of the cards from the set and I didn't pay more than $7 for any of them. I still don't have the Reggie because of how expensive they always are. The others that I'm missing are just because I've never seen them for sale anywhere.

here's a Chris Mullin for $14.99. A little pricey but not too bad considering how hard these cards are to find.

I finally found the Sam Perkins I needed from that site, and just bought it for $5 (plus $3 for shipping).

I haven't got it in the mail yet but I finally got the McKey from that set. Now all I'm missing is Reggie and Rose and I'm going to take my sweet time with those I think.

I suppose people were scared of the long shipping wait...but I couldn't believe I won this Mel Daniels auto for under $1. I regretted not snatching the last one with a BIN of $13. These things are pretty hard to come by. I guess it slipped under the radar but I'm stoked:

Excellent addition. I was recently looking for a nicely graded Mel Daniels rookie card to add to my collection. I feel like it's ridiculous that I have not a single card of his.

Got this in the mail today (for $15). Really freaking cool card, in my opinion. Has a piece of the "MEL" patch from one of Danny's home jerseys from last season. Card is limited to 10

Nice find. Did you go to the last game of the season and if so, were you lucky enough to get anything from a player? We got a shoe from Jeff Foster. Actually, my kid did. Size 15!

I did actually. I got an autographed shoe from Dunleavy (goes well with my autographed jersey), also size 15.

Thanks. The patch on the card is actually from one of Danny's home jerseys. you can see some white on the outer edge of the MEL patch

Jeff's play against Chicago inspired me to add him to my collection of graded rookie cards of my favorite Pacers of all time. Got this for $3.49 (which included shipping)

I've actually decided to start getting back into collecting cards again. Any tips on what booster and such to buy today for NBA sets?

If you're wanting just single Pacers cards instead of entire NBA sets and such, I'd say search around on eBay...maybe search this past season plus a player's name, for example: 10-11 Paul George
and then see if there's anything you like...that's what I do since I mainly pick up something randomly every so often of a few current players...

Just pick one you like and go from there. Don't come into this expecting to make any money and you'll be fine. If you are going after specific cards, just get them off of ebay. If you're going for sets, try to buy hobby boxes instead of retail boxes (Walmart, Target, etc). Unless you know the owner of your local shop, they will likely screw you over so your best bet is to check online. Its a shady business overall lol. I would suggest dacardworld.com. I have ordered from them a handful of times and have been pleased. As far as sets go, I haven't purchased any cards in the last couple of months, but my favorite set this year was Donruss 2010-11 (has a nice old school look). If you want to just check it out I would suggest going retail in this case - you can get a rack pack of 40 cards for roughly $5. Good luck - let me know if you have any other questions.

blowoutcards.com is also EXCELLENT--great service, great deals, and super fast shipping. If you're mainly looking to put together/complete some common sets and such, then retail stores would be the way to go (Wal-Mart, Target, etc), but if you're looking to pull some nicer cards such as autographs or game-used jersey cards, then the hobby version of cards is the way to go.

What is the difference between hobby version and retail version cards? I thought back when I was collecting you could get game-used jersey cards in wal-mart packs.
