Again, Reggie would never accept a ring that he didn't win. That's the lock of the century. He wouldn't want it.

Reggie has WAY too much pride for that. Accepting a championship ring from a team that he wasn't on was beneath the dignity of Chucky freaking Atkins when the Pistons offered him one.

    I would think that it would be borderline-insulting to a sure-fire hall-of-famer.

It wasn't about being the team everyone loved, it was about beating the teams everyone else loved.

I don't see why Reggie would refuse a ring IF the Pacers were to win and either have one for him made or one of the existing players give him their's.

It would simply acknowledge his role in getting the Pacers to a point where it was possible for them to win the championship. It might not mean the same to him as being a part of the team on the court to win BUT I think it would mean something to him since his shadow is still cast out over this team....

Nuntius was right. I was wrong. Frank Vogel has retained his job.

He'd understand the gesture, but that's simply an issue of pride. He'd look at that ring every day and it would only remind him that he didn't win one himself. I can guarentee you that Barkley, Ewing and Stockton would feel the same way. Either they win one, or they don't but I doubt any of them would want someone to win a ring FOR them. If it were that easy, they wouldn't have tried so hard for a ring in the first place.

As for having something to symbolize his meaning to the pacers, that's why they retire jersey #'s. Championship rings symbolize something completely different.

There's no way Reggie would accept a ring. He understands he had many years to get one himself and never got it done. It would hurt too much for him to accept one from a team he wasn't on, even though he would greatly appreciate the gesture from the players.
