    Default Dynasty?

LArry Bird is an obvious champion. It seems that Larry Bird hasn't really been "running" this dynasty until now.

And I LOVE what i'm doing. Our lineup has major Dynasty potential. We are young have a lot of promise, our contracts are MOSTLY solid.

S jack/Tins/Ron/JO. If these 4 can somehow become the cohesive unit we all know they could. This is a dynasty lineup. Especially when you consider people like Sarunas/Granger/Foster/Harrison. Harrison and Granger both have the skills to become all stars. If they do is too be seen. But imagine a veteran team of a Jo/Ron/Sjack...leading guys like Granger/Harrison and possibly Bender. If these guys can all really grow up and start playing for a championship, no one can stop us.

People like Ron and Sjack play with more intensity than most players.

I just don't see Larry not earning a title, now that he's "taken over."

Defense wins titles. As much as I love Reggie, now that he's gone. We will see a defensive team like we have NEVER seen. PG is the only spot where we don't have a defensive specialist basically.

Detroits starting 5 is still the best in the league, but with our deep bench...it won't matter.

It's all to up Sjack/Ron/Jermaine growing up basically. If that can happen, thist team could be a dynasty with Larry behind the wheel.

Great to see your enthusiasm. I am also a card-carrying member of the sunshine brigade. After last year, however, I believe almost any calamity is possible. So, I cannot allow myself to exist in the realm of pure fantasy you seem to enjoy.

    Dynasty? Dynasty?!?!?!?

Dude, you have to actually get to the finals and win a championship before you can even think about being a "dynasty."

You're looking way too far ahead. We need to actually get to the finals and win it before we can even begin to think about a dynasty. Last time I checked, zero banners were hanging from the fieldhouse.

Too much changes in the NBA from year to year dude. You can never look at a team and say it will win enough titles too be considered a dynasty. You never know what can happen.

Let's just win one title. I'll be thrilled if we can ever win a title.

I fully agree. This team has the build of a truly great team. Eventhough Reggie can't be replaced I think that Sarunas:sarunas:will fill the leadership void. David:harrison: has amazing size & strength. Ronnie is back:artest:. I think Granger:granger: will really step up and be great. Jermaineneal:will dominate the post and all the other guys will do their thing. This should be a great season all together and hopefully it will end with one of these !!

Check again. We have the ABA banners and before too long we'll get the 61 win banner...

I was talking about NBA Championship banners.

Excuse me for forgetting to bring 3 banners up from 30+ years ago in a leauge that doesnt exist anymore. The ABA banners are nice for the franchise, but to earn respect amongst franchises around the league like the Lakers, Celts, Pistons, Bulls and Spurs, NBA titles are all that matter.

Which is why I said they were nice for the franchise, and I'm sure it was great to witness

However, do you honestly think teams with multiple NBA titles really care?

To be regarded as a premiere franchise, you have to have NBA titles as far as I'm concerned.

do u think we fans give a ***** what other teams think?

    this isnt about respect...

this isnt about having bragging rights with other teams or their fans....

this isnt about being perceived as a premier franchise-because im fairly certain we are perceived by some of the teams u mention as being a premier franchise-and it has nothing to do with the banners that are hangin from the rafters....

this is about winning a title for the fans and the community....fans and a community that have loved this team for many, many years....

its about that feeling u get when ur beloved team reaches the pinnacle....

if ur reason for wanting to win a title for how others will perceive u around the nba-then maybe a soul-searching is warranted...

there are those of us that have felt that feeling of having their team reach the pinnacle....and i assure u it had nothing missing because it was the aba and not the nba....

u may not have been around to enjoy it, but ur treading in dangerous territory when u start disrespecting or belittling those years simply because u werent around to enjoy them....

Mac, can I renew your Sunshine Brigade membership card? First you have to pick up the Blue and Gold glasses and firmly believe that this year's Pacers will take the record from Houston for best opening season streak by going 16-0 to start the season. Then believe later in the season we win 36 games in a row for the longest winning streak in the history of the NBA. Ultumatly believe that we will have a better record then the 72-10 Chicago Bulls. Finally, top it off thinking that we will just win the title because the Western Conf. Opp. will just forfeit because of overall fear of embarrassment.

Quit twisting around what I'm saying. I'm not disrespecting anything. I'm sure it was a great experience for the fans, and it's the best part of the franchises history.

But we don't play in the ABA anymore, we're in the NBA, and we have zero NBA titles. It was in a different league. Period

The Bulls, Spurs, Lakers, Celtics, Pistons, and even the Rockets and Knicks are the teams with the storied NBA history. There is a mutual respect amongst franchises that have won multiple championships.

I'm sorry, while the ABA titles are nice for our franchise, teams with NBA titles could really care less.

We can't live on the ABA titles forever, we have to win an NBA title to validate ourselves as a top tier franchise.

it seems u objectify titles, much like u do players...

it appears winning titles have very different meanings to u and i....

u seem more concerned with what other teams think, validation, and public perception of the pacers....

    i tell u i could give 2 *****s about any of those....

my team has won 3 titles....and i long for many more....and it has nothing to do with the pacers legacy and everything to do with my beloved team reaching the pinnacle....

I am embarassed that fans of other teams might come here and see this thread. Seriously...it's embarassing - we haven't done anything, and you're talking about a DYNASTY? Wow. Dumbest thread of the year - I'm sorry. I hate it when people get over-confident.

You should have hear the golden state warriors fans and their "dynasty" talk a while ago...

I think even the clippers fans will have a "dynasty" discussion at some point this season. Just a part of summer. Nobody will be slapped in the face by reality for at least 4 months yet.

Ill go ahead and say this, I was going to keep my mouth shut.....

Part of the beauty of winning a NBA title is obviously to see your team reach the promise land, but the other part is being able to talk trash and know that for the next 12 months you are indeed the NBA champion.

I know some of you old school guys may not agree with that premise, but if for no other reason I would love for the Pacers to get the 1st title just so that I could have bragging rights over all other NBA teams for a whole year (hey, I dont get much of bragging rights from any teams out here in DC )
    Yeah, it's kinda fun.

I had a lot of fun walking around SoCal early july last year and watching the disheartened looks from the laker fans....
