Default I'm sensing JO and Tinsley for Garnett

JO + Tinsley for Garnett seems like a decent possibility to me, so I will go ahead and post it so I can get bragging rights if it actually happens.

    1. Minnesota is in a semi-funk and would be open to an overhaul.

    2. The combo of JO and Tinsley is one of the few trades, IMO, that would excite the fan base there and provide a real replacement to someone of Garnett's ability and stature.

    3. Minnesota does not have a pg with the excitement of Tinsley. That would be a major draw for them.

    4. With our new and emerging offensive weapons (Saras, Artest, Granger, JJ, Harrison, Jax), isos with JO are just not as important for us anymore, and are arguably a potential hazard. Whatever we lose in trading JO we completely or at least very nearly gain back with Garnett, who, IMO, does not carry the risk of needing a certain number of isos each game.

    5. Garnett helps us with the physical type play we need if Dale is not in the game. Plus, we could also throw Bender into the trade and get a bruiser from the Wolves thrown in. The "potential" factor of Bender would add to Minnesota's hopes of a successful overhaul.

Only a theory. But plausible, I think.

If it happens, I say LB has serious stones. It would as big a risk for us as for Minnesota.

I see that as a trade that Minnesota would do, possibly with a 1st rounder thrown in on Indiana's side.

It wasn't about being the team everyone loved, it was about beating the teams everyone else loved.

    I doubt Minny trades KG.

I don't think they are going to be open to a overhaul. They still have there work cut out for them but I don't think they will trade KG, one of the top 3 players in the league probably.

Can KG even be traded for that little, within the CBA? He makes *far* more than JO's "max" salary, doesn't he? And Tinsley's BYC, so that doesn't help the math, either.

I just don't see KG being traded, but I think JO and change is one of the few offers they'll consider.

    Indiana Trade Breakdown
    Outgoing
    Jermaine O'Neal
6-11 PF from Eau Claire HS (SC)
    24.3 ppg, 8.8 rpg, 1.9 apg in 34.8 minutes
    Jamaal Tinsley
    6-3 PG from Iowa State
    15.4 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 6.4 apg in 32.5 minutes
    Incoming
    Kevin Garnett
6-11 PF from Farragut Academy HS (IL)
    22.2 ppg, 13.5 rpg, 5.7 apg in 38.0 minutes
Change in team outlook: -17.5 ppg, +0.7 rpg, and -2.6 apg.

    Minnesota Trade Breakdown
    Outgoing
    Kevin Garnett
6-11 PF from Farragut Academy HS (IL)
    22.2 ppg, 13.5 rpg, 5.7 apg in 38.0 minutes
    Incoming

    15.4 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 6.4 apg in 32.5 minutes
Change in team outlook: +17.5 ppg, -0.7 rpg, and +2.6 apg.

    Successful Scenario
Due to Indiana and Minnesota being over the cap, the 25% trade rule is invoked. Indiana and Minnesota had to be no more than 125% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

How do I sign up for this trade? Would it help if I offered to carry Jermaine & Jamaal's bags to the airport?

If something like this were to happen... and factor in this real FA signing (Saras) early in the game rather than a vet minimum guy just before training camp.... I'd have to wonder what was going on in the offices of PS&E. I'd have to assume someone has been abducted by aliens and replaced with a clone of some sort and a new mission directive.

Could Pacer fans stand that much excitement and possibility? I'm not sure how some would react. We've been conservative for so long I'm not sure what a proactive approach would do to them. ...Of course it is how you win championships... They rarely fall in your lap.

The problem is, the TWolves are likely to require any team getting Garnett to take the contracts of Hudson and/or Sczerbiak off their hands for that privilege. I want no part of either, but if Hudson could stay healthy he'd be OK as a backup combo guard.

Someone mentioned JO/Cro/Tins for Garnett/Hudson, and Kstat rightly said the TWolves wouldn't do that; but they might do JO/Pollard/Tins for Garnett/Hudson, so they would get two quality starters and a big man's expiring contract (instead of Croshere). Not sure if this scenario would work through RealGM, though.

Makes you wonder, Tinsley as added flavor to the trade or someone else? (Fred Jones, JJ (sign and trade), Granger, AJ, Bender, etc)

I would make this trade so fast it would make your head spin.

KG is that guy we need to bring more of an all around game.

IF you set up a poll? 90% of pacer fans would do a straight up Oneal for Garnett trade.

This is a joke. Tins/JO for garnett. If you ask me thats 2 all stars for one. Sure Tinsley hasn't been an all star yet, but he has the ability to be. Tinsley is an amazing point guard and his injury proneness isn't reason to ship him and our best player out for Garnett.

Sure Garnett is an amazing player, but how much better is he than JO. Not much. He is smarter than JO and has a higher basketball IQ. Their skill set is almost the same, KG is more versatile I know and can knock down threes.

Fact is I don't like the idea of losing Tins and JO. I actually hate Jermaine and I don't like this trade. On paper our lineup as is...is easily the best in the league...EASILY. I mean sure Detroits starting 5 no one can compete with, but look at our bench its a joke.

Foster, Saras, Granger, FJ, JJ, (possibly), Aj, Bender.

We have the best chance to win a title with this lineup than ever before. ESPECIALLY if we can actual resign both dale/jj and get rid of cro or bender.

Do you people realize Tinsley was dropping 30 pts on the heat last season? And you want to trade him and Jo for someone who is SLIGHTLY better than Jermaine.

Jermaine/Fred/Draft pick for Garnett...I like the sound of that a lot better.

Ok I'll come out and say it...I love tinsley and will cry if he's not here next season.

I disagree with you, Jon Theodore.

KG is not just "slightly" better than Jermaine. He is a LOT better in my opinion. He is more versatile, athletic, a better rebounder, more tenacious/intense, more mature, and he makes his teammates better!!! The last 2 things I listed (being mature, and making teammates better) are really the most important things in my mind. I think a lot of the trade JO advocates want him gone because he not only seems like a "prima-dona" of sorts (always needing the ball...cannot pass and make others better), but he also complains to the refs, and seems immature at times. Not to mention the problems he has with Artest.

I don't even think twice at this trade. I can get rid of Jermaine, and upgrade that spot significantly, and throw in an oft-injured PG to get the deal done...then hell yeah - I'm pulling the trigger. You just don't pass up on the opportunity to get a special player like Garnett.

A.) Our bench is not a joke...

B.) KG is much better than JO.. as evidenced by the 4.7 RPG difference and 3.8 APG difference,, shooting over .500 from the field, and almost another steal per game... KG is just all over the court a wiser player...
