    Victor Oladipo Releases Debut Track

    (No byline)

When the Pacers traded for Victor Oladipo, they knew they were getting a talented player. But with the release of a song and the prospect of more music on the way, it appears the Pacers' new guard has talents that extend far beyond the basketball court.

On Thursday, Oladipo posted a song to his Instagram account, teasing that more music would be on the way soon.

The 25-year-old's talent for singing has never been a secret. At Indiana University, Oladipo covered a song by Usher at Hoosier Hysteria. During last season's All-Star Weekend, Oladipo was part of the NBA's Talent Challenge, winning the contest by showcasing his pipes for the national audience.

The song Oladipo released via Soundcloud (listen below) is a remix of Donny Hathaway's 'Song for You' and he added his own lyrics to the second part of the song.

During an interview with Russ Bengston of Complex Magazine in September of 2016, Oladipo mentioned the possibility of eventually putting out a record.

"Maybe one day," Oladipo told the magazine. "I think ainít too many NBA players who are actually really good at singing. Thereís a lot of rappers, but not too many singers. I think it could be something special, so maybe one day."

It appears one year later, that day is much closer.

In Oladipo's Instagram post, he described why he decided to release a track: "They say when you have a gift you should share it because if you don't you're doing yourself, the world, and God who gave you the gift a disservice!! So here is a small part of my gift to y'all, my first single A Song For You."
When is he going to ask for time off to work on his album?

I'm waiting for the inevitable Dipo/BornReady duet.

Wow. Impressed/surprised. Like, he has a gift.

Good for him. Would be insane for him not to continue.

Artest wasn't horrible... The songs overall were usually bad quality though. Lillard is one of the guys that could possibly have success if it weren't for his current career.
There is a rapper that played with Kevin Durant through AAU named Dave East. He was actually extremely talented, but had a lot of issues.

The original song was written by the iconoclastic Leon Russell, who passed away last year. Way to drop the ball, NBA.

I'm not really commenting on whether Artest had good rapping skills or not but Oladipo's genre of music usually requires a decent singing voice(well at least old school R&B not this autotune garbage)

Artest is a rapper you don't have to be able to sing just have a decent flow.

Oh yeah, I understood. Just felt like making the comment and piggybacked off of yours. I think Dipo has a real talent, moreso than a lot of athletes that try to get involved in music.

Was reeeally surprised at his voice here. As long as he doesn't focus on purely trying to gain fans who are interested in basketball he's on to something. There's a music video that takes a lot of footage from the gym and don't think it really fits. Great voice though, surprised.

Reminds me of this from about this time last year:
    Pacers fan since April 9th 2004 - New Jersey 80 Indiana 90.
Went to NFL UK in London, Oct. 2016 (1 Colts game)
Visited Indy from Nov. 11-28th 2016 (8 Pacers games, 2 Colts)
Went to Global Game in London, Jan. 2017 (1 Pacers game)
Visiting Indy again from Dec. 2-20th 2017 (7 Pacers games, 1 Colts)
