Does anyone c Harrison starting over Foster this year....or maybe a trade could take the starting job maybe Magloire?

    no thank you to magloire.....

this should make my friend SIG happy....

i truly hope that its harrison that is starting on opening nite...because that would mean he has progressed a great deal...that would mean we are better of with him than dale, jeff, or scott...

and that would be simply awesome....because that would mean hes really delivering on some potential....and if thats the case he can make us better in a way that not many centers could, ways that davis, foster, pollard, and even magloire couldnt do....and that would make us a better team...

now if that doesnt happen, then i would like dale to start....he wouldnt play that many minutes but id like him to start....

jeff is best coming off the bench....more importantly i think the team is better off with jeff coming off the bench....he adds a spark and energy that is key for a bench player....i also tend to think the floor game might be better when hes playing with some of the second unit....

so im hoping its david...because he has the most potential upside...but i can live with dale...

Foster will open the season starting. He would be almost impossible to dislodge if he started hitting shots from 15 feet in.

which supposedly he does deftly in practice....and did in college....

between him and bender, we might have the greatest practice forward tandem in the history of the nba...

No, his problem is still that he's waaayyy too easy to dislodge, whether he's hitting shots or not. The hip injuries only magnify the problem... he's not strong enough to be a starting C but he's okay as a starting PF. I think I might be able to push him around in the post.

So I think JO will be the starting C, just as he has been for most of the past two seasons.

But I think by the end of the season, our starting frontcourt will be Granger/JO/Harrison.

To me, one of the more interesting questions right now is whether or not Granger/Ron/JO will be the opening night starting frontcourt?

Till to the music we grow deaf, to God's beauty blind
Why do the things that connect us slowly pull us apart?
Till we fall away in our own darkness, a stranger to our own hearts
And life itself, rushing over me
Life itself, the wind in black elms,
Life itself in your heart and in your eyes, I can't make it without you

i, for one, would be shocked if that was our opening nite starting frontcourt..as far as that end of the season thing...i assume u think ron will suffer a season ending injury....how sad...

No, I think Granger will make him expendable...

I'm convinced now that you would rather see us move Ron then win a championship.

Haven't I said bazillions of times that I think subtracting Ron is the real key to this team ever winning a championship? Having Granger makes it easier, becasue we no longer *require* a starting caliber SF in excange for Ron.

Really, I can't believe people still act surprised that I'm the #1 advocate that subtracting Ron AUTOMATICALLY makes this TEAM better.

    ?????????????????????????????????????????????????

Anyway I think we should start Harrison even if he isn't ready. Because developing him will give us the weapon that we need to keep the pistons from double teaming JO. A legit strong Center that can score in the Post.

I know I am not the only one tired of seeing Jermaine Swarmed by the wallaces.

I'd like to see Harrison start...although I have no problem with Foster starting. In fact it will probably be the way it has been in recent years with matchups determining the starting center.

    Dale/Jeff/David/Scot

Of course, it will be mixed up a little due to matchups/injuries/trades.

This is all too easy. David Harrison will start opening night and continue to start for us throughout his 10-15 year career with the Pacers. Someday when I am an old man and have a bunch of little SoupIsGoods running around #13 will hang from the rafters.

I can't believe this is even a question.

Can we split this thread? I hate when Harrison talk is diluted with this Artest stuff.

Foster will likely start. If not him...then DD ( if he is still with us ). Although I hope that Harrison has made progress....I don't think he is starting material. At best...if he is playing real well....Harrison could end up starting ahead of Foster/DD....but I think that Carlisle will start the best Center that has the most experience. Harrison will likely still make rookie/sophmore mistakes and I don't think Carlisle will like that. At worst...which I think is the likely scenario.....Harrison will play solid backup Center minutes at 17 to 25 mpg. Now if DD doesnt sign with us....he will be the main backup guy...playing 25+ mpg at Center.

I see Foster as our starting center, with DD getting most of the backup min. I expect Carlisle to make his decisions after training camp, but I don't see DD, or Harrison outplaying Foster for the position. Harrison needs to show some real progress on his defense, and rebounding. If we dump Cro, that would open up a few more min. for someone backing up J.O.
Another question might be, who's the odd man out if Foster, DD, Harrison, and Pollard are healthy? I would guess Pollard.

the more i think about this, the more id like to see harrison start at center...at least for the first part of the season...first 30 game or so and then reevaluate...

hes obviously gifted physically....if hes done his part by getting in great shape and continues to work hard, then i say have at it...

if hes potentially the center of the future then put him in the starting lineup...in some respects, given the strength of the starters, expectations will be lower with him starting....he has people around him to help with his mistakes...if he gets in foul trouble so be it,,,its a learning experience and we should have plenty of backup....

it will allow jo to play the weaker power player on the other team...and jo can play weakside and help david out that way...david takes up a lot of space and would definitely help in boxing someone out, which should help jos rebounding totals....he also should make it much more difficult for the opposition to defend the post with both he and jo down there....

we may suffer (though i dont think much) in the early part, but i think we would reap the rewards later on and in the playoffs....

it just seems he might develop much better starting...

let him start...if he plays well, then he can play more that nite....if hes having a bad nite, he doesnt play as much...no biggie....

this is his second year, so its a bit late to say baptism by fire....but the more i think about it the more i like it....

lets find out just what we got...and the sooner the better....if he develops, then we are all better for it....if he goes backwards, then we can plan accordingly
