Let me get this straight...some of you think Irving was a lateral move for Boston?
I think the overall trade atm is pretty lateral...I think Cleveland gets better this season and Boston is still in a really good place as Crowder was just going to get in the way of the young SF's they have and Kyrie is slightly better than IT. The things that will determine this trade is how long IT holds up and what happens in regards to the Nets pick...if it's a 5-10 sort of pick I think Boston wins this trade easily.
"It's just unfortunate that we've been penalized so much this year and nothing has happened to the Pistons, the Palace or the city of Detroit," he said. "It's almost like it's always our fault. The league knows it. They should be ashamed of themselves to let the security be as lax as it is around here."

Sooooo, is Kyrie better than Jimmy Butler? Because pretty sure you coulda kept IT and gotten Butler for the pick.

Cleveland stole the trade and is not even close they got an MVP candidate and true super star plus other pieces for a super star, I love me some Kyrie but IT has taken a team by himself to the number one seed in the east.
IT's hip is already being talked up.
Crowder will want out once Lebron leaves and IT leaves. Plus Crowder is what he is. This isn't a guy with future potential. He's a good cog but nowhere near a 20ppg scorer.
That Nets pick is the key. If it falls out of the top 8.... ouch.

I like this move for the Celtics if you can accept watching Isaiah Thomas celebrate with Lebron as he beats the Celtics in the ECF next year.

I mean Kyrie wanted to go to like 3 places that's it.
    Hear those crickets?

That's how it's supposed to sound like when a player is not hell bent on going to LA or teams of preference. Irving never had the leverage of fear like Paul George. A team is getting a guaranteed two years, plus he wanted to leave Cleveland immediately. Paul George was "willing" to play out his year, because he knew he was going to LA next season.

Irving is lucky he didn't get traded to a terrible team.

Remember when we could have gotten 1-2 solid players and a possible Top 3 draft pick in the 2017 NBA Draft by trading away Paul George?

They weren't in love with IT and weren't going to sign him long term, that's pretty obvious. I'd be pretty scared to sign a 5'9 guy to a 5 year max contract as well at 29 going on 30.

What does that change about my question?

Butler is at least near Kyrie offensively and a much better defender. And you at least get a run with IT and Butler.

It's an unnoticeable upgrade at best, and may be worse with team fit. Imo they traded all those pieces for one additional year of contract, which is useless cause they aren't near golden state.

Some of you guys are vastly underrating Kyrie. He's shown an ability to be a big time player in the playoffs
I'm not one who thinks IT is as good as Kyrie but um...IT had some pretty big games in these past playoffs.

I'm listening to Kenny Smith on NBA TV, and he said one of the things he hates about the NBA is that Isaiah Thomas played for the Celtics two days after his younger sister died, and 4 months later they traded him.

Loyalty goes both ways. Anyone asking whether players should be loyal to teams, remember that Isaiah Thomas played for the Celtics two days after his sister died, and Danny Ainge dumped him. Loyalty goes both ways.

This makes the Pacers trade look even worse.
It doesn't make our trade look better, that's for sure. On the plus side, it makes the tampering case look better.

    I forgot about that.

But yeah I agree with you overall I mean had he demanded a trade I can imagine what the reaction would've been...

That being said he got traded to what many consider a better situation(for now) so there won't be that much sympathy for him.

That was my first thought. They did IT dirty.

Good move for Cleveland, window is this year. For celtics it depends if Brown and Tatum can be as good defensively as Bradly and Crawder 2 years from now when the East is wide open.

Well Cavs got a huge package for a guy that requested a trade, Pacers got 2 role players for a guy that did the same thing, whoever Cavs GM is kicked Pritch's a** and is not even close.
I can compare an apple to an orange and pretend to be color blind also.

NO team is near Golden State and that includes the Cavs.

Well, he now is favored to make to the NBA Finals and play for a championship so...maybe that counts for something?

That depends. How many times are fans going to pull the loyalty card when a player decides to leave in FA?
Tonight, all flags must burn, in place of steeples.
Autonomy must return into the hands of the people.
