Since moving from the past software (bbBoardv2) to this one (vBulletin), one feature I liked better before was that when user A ignores user B, user B's posts didn't show up at all for user A. On vBulletin, whenever user B has a post, user A sees it as "This user is on your ignore list, click here to view post" or something like that.
I found out how to make it like it used to be, and have done so. If you place a user on your ignore list, you will still see them listed on Who's Online, and if they're the latest to reply to a thread it will show them on the board, but in a thread, their post doesn't even show up at all; like it wasn't there to begin with.
