    Default X-box internet Gaming

I was just wondering if there was anyway that I could connect my Xbox to my CPU and play that way b/c there's no phone jack near my port.

I don't know much about this stuff, and any help is appreciated

Yes, it's called ICS. 'Internet Connection Sharing.'

All you need is a CAT-5 crossover cable and a spare ethernet port on your PC. If not you will either have to get another NIC or buy a router. I would go with buying a router because it has many more uses than an extra NIC. If you buy a router you just connect your cable modem to the router, then your PC and your Xbox to it as well.

http://www.xbox.com/en-US/live/conne...networking.htm Here is a good site with all the information you need. The guide to ICS is on the side.

Is there any way to play online with an XBOX over the internet aside from XBOX Live, using a PC? I remember in the early days I saw Halo on Gamespy for XBOX users, but I never knew if that took off in any other direction. I don't have the time or money to give serious though to paying money to play online with it, but if there's a free alternative, I'd be interested.

    www.xbconnect.com

That is a free alternative. Check it out.

Hicks, pay the $50 for Live, it's worth it!

Listen to him, Hicks. It's money well-spent. If you want them, I've got a handful of cards in some of my Xbox Live games that are good for two free months. It's a good way to try before you buy, though you'll certainly want a headset as well ($30 for a standalone unit, I believe).

Xbconnect works, but I hate playing on there. The experience isn't nearly as pleasant as it is on XBL.

Yeah Xbox Live is a great experience.

The only good thing XBconnect is good for now is playing system link games online.

XBconnect, I agree, won't nearly be as convienent setting up games, even though I have never used it. The Halo 2 matchmaking system is genius on X-box Live.

X-box Live is the superior online service. Join us..............

It's $50 well well well spent. Worth every dollar.
